Browsing for recipes
From any page, move your cursor to hover over the Recipes menu at the top. From the menu dropdown, you will have
the option to browse for recipes by the type of dish, ingredients, and lifestyle. If you don’t see what you are
looking for, click on the Recipes menu title or on More Recipes on the bottom
right corner of the dropdown menu.
Allrecipes wants to make it as easy as possible for you to find what you are looking for, so we have created several ways to search for recipes to ensure that you do! You can use the search field at the top of any page to perform any of the searches listed below:
Search: On any page, enter your search term into the quick search bar at the top of the page. You will be taken to results for that search term, which will include videos, collections, articles, and recipes. Recipe search results will appear under the photos representing the associated videos, collections, and articles, and can be sorted by Relevance, Rating, or Popularity.
Ingredient Search: Search for recipes that contain the ingredients you want! Click on the words by ingredient at the top of any page. After clicking by ingredient you will be taken to a form where you can enter up to four ingredients (one per line) that you would like to include and also up to four ingredients you would like to exclude. Click on the spy glass icon after entering all the ingredients you are looking to include and exclude to see your results.
Advanced Search: To use Advanced Search, click on Advanced under the search bar on any page, and enter your search criteria, including keywords, prep and ready in time, Meal, Cuisine, and Dish type, up to four ingredients to include or exclude, and dietary preferences. You can also search by specific recipe submitter or sponsor.
Note: You can also conveniently view all types of searches as soon as you search for a term to the left of the search results.
The Allrecipes Nutrition Search feature is available to Allrecipes Pros. You can
now search using Calorie, Fat, Carbohydrate, Protein, Cholesterol, or Sodium range
Here’s how to do it:
- Enter your search term and click on Nutrition below the search
bar (or, click on Nutrition to the left on the Search results page).
- Use the slide bars to adjust the nutrition requirements (click More
under the Fat bar to also choose Protein, Cholesterol, and Sodium criteria).
- Click Search to filter your original search results to fit your
Nutrition Search criteria.
Please note: Your Nutrition Search results will filter the top 100 search results
of your original search. Narrow your search by entering more specific keywords or
use the horizontal slide bars. If your Nutrition Search does not return any results,
there might not be recipes that fit the criteria.Expand your search and try again.

Recipes no longer on the site
While we always have member recipes on the site, we also partner with trusted companies to offer their recipes on the site for
certain periods of time. If you see a recipe that has been submitted by a food company that you may want to use again, save
that recipe to your Recipe Box, or print it for future use.
Recipe description cuts off in search results.
Think of it as a sneak-peek! Our recipe search results pages are meant to give users a convenient, at-a-glance look, but
the full recipe description is just a click away. You can get there via the “more” button at the end of the text
I can’t submit an image from search results.
Clicking on the recipe title will land you on the recipe page where you can then click on the link in the empty image box that
says “submit a photo.” So, keep going—we love seeing what our cooks in the field come up with!
What are the highlighted search results?
Those are links to Allrecipes advertising partners that we believe are complementary to our users’ needs.
