- Low sodium seasoning, real garlic, pinto or pink vs nasty kidney beans. Added ground cumin for more authenic Mexican flavor.
2 pounds lean ground beef
1/2 onion, chopped
1/2 teaspoon Nature's Light Seasoning
1 teaspoon crushed garlic
2 1/2 cups tomato sauce
1 (8 ounce) jar salsa, (medium or mild)
3 tablespoons Penzy's chili seasoning mix
1/2 teaspoon ground pepper
1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
2 (15 ounce) cans pink or pinto beans
In a large saucepan over medium heat, combine the ground beef and the onion and saute for 10 minutes, or until meat is browned and onion is tender. Drain grease and rinse.
Add the seasoned salt mixture, tomato sauce, salsa, chili seasoning mix and beans. Mix well, reduce heat to low and simmer for at least an hour to blend flavors. Last 10 min. taste, adjust seasonings if needed and add ground pepper.
