  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Use the butter to grease a tube pan.
  2. If using the mild ground sausage, brown it in a skillet with the onions and set aside to cool.
  3. Quarter biscuits. Mix biscuits, salsa, cooled sausage mixture (or diced smoked sausage) and cheese in a large bowl. Pour into prepared tube pan.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for 40 to 45 minutes.
  5. Allow to cool for 10 minutes, then turn upside down onto a serving plate.
  6. OPTIONAL...top with sour cream and green onions before serving.
