Tasty Tater-tot Casserole


In about an hour you have a tasty casserole that was easy to prepare, has all your major food groups, and yummy to the the tummy that even picky youngster will enjoy. It's also very simple to adjust for individual preferences and has most ingredients that are in the cabinet/pantry or are easy to make with all the great recipes on this site. Enjoy!

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Spray 9x13 glass baking dish with cooking spray.
  2. Add butter/margarine/oil to pan and saute onions and garlic till tender (about 5 mins) stirring periodically. Add ground beef, breaking up large chunks. Brown meat and remove excess grease. Add chili sauce, soup mix, worcestershire sauce and red wine/combo to meat and simmer for about 5 minutes. Spread hamburger into bottom of pan, covering entire bottom, gently tamping beef down. Layer frozen veggies as next layer. Cover with the soup, straight from the can, carefully spreading with spatula to cover entirely. Add half the package of cheese. Layer tater tots on top, covering entire top with tots. Bake at 375 degrees F (190 degrees) for 40 minutes. Add remaining half of cheese to top of tator tots and cook remaining 20 minutes. If tots are getting too brown when adding cheese, lower temperature to 350 degrees F (190 degrees C).
