  1. Add ham, beans, tomato paste, onion, celery, carrots, garlic, bay leaves, basil, thyme, mustard, cayenne pepper, salt, ground black pepper, Worcestershire sauce and chicken base or bouillon to a pot.
  2. Add the can of beer and water to cover all.
  3. Bring mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 30 mins to an hour
