  1. Place ground beef in a large, deep skillet. Cook over medium-high heat until evenly brown. Drain, crumble, and place in a medium, thick-bottomed stockpot.
  2. Add all ingredients to stockpot with browned ground beef. Bring to boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 1 to 1 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally.
  3. Add additional water before serving for a thinner consistency, if desired. (Place lid on pot to avoid evaporation of liquid if you feel it is getting too thick.)
  4. Garnish with shredded cheddar cheese, sour cream & onions.
