Easy Slow Cooker Collard Greens

After reading recipes posted by TROMETZ and the reviews by Kimmy and denisett, I decided to use their ideas and adjust my own stovetop recipe. My rating was intended for TROMETZ!

Original recipe yields 16 servings

  1. Microwave the greens in 2 batches in a large bowl with about 1/4 cup of the chicken broth covered loosely (I use wax paper) for 5 minutes each, so they will wilt a bit and fit in the slow cooker. Place all ingredients but ham or turkey necks in the slow cooker and stir. Arrange any chunks of ham so it's spread out among the greens. Cover, and cook on High until it comes to a simmer, then reduce heat to Low, and cook for 6 to 8 hours more.
