Salted Caramel Chocolate Bar Cookies

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease 2- 9x13 inch pans.
  2. In a large bowl, stir together 3 1/3 cups flour, oats, brown sugar, salt and baking soda.
  3. Mix in melted butter until evenly distributed. Press half of the mixture into the bottom of the prepared pan.
  4. Bake for 15 minutes in the preheated oven, or until lightly toasted. Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle with chocolate chips. Let stand.
  5. In a small bowl, mix the caramel topping with the remaining flour; drizzle evenly over the chocolate chips avoiding all sides. Lightly sprinkle w/sea salt.
  6. Roll the remaining crust mixture between a plastic bag and layer evenly over the caramel layer maintaining as few pieces as possible and seal all edges by pressing down lightly or pinching.
  7. Bake for 15-20 more minutes in the preheated oven. Cool and refrigerate. Best eaten next day or after several hours in refrigerator. Allow to cool completely before cutting into squares.
