  1. Preheat an oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Melt 4 tablespoons butter in fry pan over medium high heat. Add chopped onion and saute until onion is translucent. Remove from heat.
  3. Beat the eggs in a large bowl; whisk in the mayonnaise, cream of mushroom soup, Cheddar cheese, salt and pepper, broccoli, and onion.
  4. Melt the remaining 4 tablespoons butter in microwave and stir into crushed crackers.
  5. Spoon broccoli mixture into a 9X13 inch Pyrex dish. Sprinkle with the crushed crackers mixed with butter.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven until hot and bubbly, 30 to 40 minutes.
