Lite Alfredo Sauce

  1. Melt the margarine in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Stir in the garlic and flour. Cook and stir until the garlic is fragrant but not browned, about 1 minute.
  3. Whisk in the chicken broth and milk, whisking constantly until the mixture is hot and slightly thickened, about 10 minutes.
  4. Season with salt and black pepper.
  5. Gradually stir in the Parmesan cheese.
  6. Continue to simmer until the cheese has melted and the sauce is thickened.
  7. Stir often for 20 more minutes.
