Shortbread Squares


The original recipe called for confectioners sugar and 1/2 cup cornstarch. I didn't have any confectioners sugar on hand, so I used granulated and increased the amount of cornstarch to 3/4 cup. It worked very well.

  1. In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Combine flour and cornstarch; gradually add to creamed mixture.
  2. Pat into an ungreased 15-in. x 10-in. x 1-in. baking pan. Pierce several times with a fork. Bake at 325 degrees F for 40-45 minutes or until lightly browned. Cut while warm.
