Cabbage Roll Casserole


This casserole combines chopped cabbage with ground beef, tomato sauce, and rice. Preparation is much simpler than for standard stuffed cabbage rolls.

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. In a large skillet, brown beef in oil over medium high heat until redness is gone. Drain off fat.
  3. Add onion, broth, tomatoes, tomato sauce, cabbage, rice and spices, and mix all together. Cook covered on stovetop for 10-15min. Pour mixture into a 9x13 inch baking dish. Bake in the preheated oven, covered, for 45min. Stir, sprinkle with cheddar and bake uncovered for another 15 minutes.
