Brie Baked With Bourbon, Figs and Toasted Almonds

Figs cooked with brown sugar, vanilla, and a splash of bourbon, mixed with almonds, piled on a round of Brie, then baked until soft. A great appetizer for a cold winter's eve!

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 C).
  2. Heat brown sugar and water in a small saucepan over medium heat until sugar is completely dissolved. Add figs and vanilla, and cook until softened, about 10 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in the bourbon and a little salt and pepper. Toast almonds in a small skillet until slightly browned, then stir into the fig mixture. Place brie wheel in a baking dish, and pile the fig mixture over the top.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven for 10 to 15 minutes, or until softened but not melted. Serve with sliced baguette.
