If you love the taste of slow cooked chicken but want to cut down on cooking time without sacrificing flavor, try cooking on your slow cooker's high setting. A handful of additional ingredients help to enhance the flavor and maintain moisture in this version of the original Baked Slow Cooker Chicken recipe.

  1. Pour chicken stock into the bottom of a slow cooker. Add a layer of carrot and potatoes.
  2. Rinse the chicken, inside and out, under cold running water. Pat dry with paper towels. Rub the chicken with the butter, salt, pepper and paprika. Stuff the chicken with the onions and bay leaves. Place chicken in the slow cooker on top of the carrots and potatoes.
  3. Set the slow cooker to High for 2 hours, then turn down to Low for 3 hours.
