This was great even though I didn't have all the correct ingredients! I only has Russet potatoes on hand and just used 1 cup of chicken broth. I used spices that we like: 1 tesp garlic powder, 1 tesp seasoned salt, 1/2 tesp Italian seasoning and 1/4 tesp black pepper. Mixed the spices, rubbed into the meat (3 lb boneless shoulder roast) and seared the meat. Onions were on the bottom of the crock, then the meat with potatoes around the edges. I sprinkled a teaspoon of dried minced garlic over the meat and poured the broth along the sides. Cooked on low for 10 hours and it came out perfect! Would definitely like to try the sweet potatoes!
