Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2015
It was pretty tasty. I made my own pastry and added chopped jalapeño , garlic and caraway seed. I made it with extra sauce and i baked it in a deep dish / casserole dish. It was nice and saucy . My kids ate it and said it was delicious

Avocado-Spinach Dip

Reviewed: May 31, 2015
One word - YUM! My garlic clove was BIG and if you're not a fan of garlic, use a small one. I love garlic so it's just fine for me. I have a friend who likes Guacamole dip but says it's "too fattening". I told her about the fresh spinach - she's hooked on it now and makes it with chopped tomatoes & Greek yogurt instead of sour cream and dips her veggies in it. One of the first appetizers to go at my get togethers'. Thanks for sharing!

Lemon Curd

Reviewed: May 13, 2015
So easy! I used 3 lemons as they were small, 2 whole eggs and no lemon zest. Stirred the whole time it was on the stove - no double boiler - and it turned out better than store bought - lots fresher and cheaper. Keeper for sure since I use it in many recipes. Thanx for the recipe!

Hasty Chocolate Pudding

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2015
What a great recipe! And I'm thinking of different types/flavors of pudding I can make now. Coconut milk perhaps instead of regular milk with coconut extract and no chocolate? Seems the possibilities are endless! Thank you!

These are delicious. My husband's favorite cookie. I add pecans because I don't have macadamias, but they are so good.

Deviled Eggs II

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2015
I woke up in the mood for deviled eggs but I was looking for a different way to do deviled eggs other than my usual way. I saw this and was intrigued by the addition of vinegar. My husband made breakfast today and I was still sleep but there was leftover bacon (if you can believe that) so I decided to add some chopped up bacon and a sprinkling of garlic and onion powder. Delicious!!

Keema Aloo (Ground Beef and Potatoes)

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2015
Oh, my gosh! This was so good! I've been making Keema Alu with another (well-known) cookbook's recipe for years and love this dish. This recipe from Allrecipes is just as yummy. My kids say this one is not as spicy as my other recipe, which pleases one kid but not the others. We serve ours with rice, a salad, and naan. I grind my own spices, except for the garam masala, so they are really fresh. (I do this in a small coffee grinder.) The Serrano pepper I used was ripe red. To save time, you could use ginger paste found in the produce section. We probably eat this dish at least once every three weeks.

Amazingly Good Eggnog

Shockingly good!!! I myself was scared to taste it. I didn't have any cloves so I substituted ground cloves (looked up the ratio). Once I sampled it, everyone started trying it. Before I knew it, all of it was GONE!!!

Spicy Garlic Lime Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2015
This was fantastic! I served as soft tacos. Per other reviews I doubled the spice ingredients and added about 1 ½ tsp ground cumin. I cut the chicken into bite sized pieces put in a Ziploc bag added a drizzle of olive oil, dumped in the spice mix and mushed it all together. I put the chicken in the fridge for about 2 hrs. Thirty minutes before cook time I took the chicken out of the fridge and let it rest on the counter. I sautéed the chicken in 3 batches with the olive oil and butter. After browning the chicken I kept warm in the oven. I deglazed the pan with the lime juice and about 1/3 c. of chicken stock. I then add the chicken back to the pan and let simmer for about 15 -20 min so the sauce could reduce and coat the chicken. I served in warm soft tortilla shells with lettuce, tomato, cheese, Crema Mexicana and several healthy splashes of Salsa Picante de Chile Habanero!! Be warned if you don’t like it spicy don’t add the Habanero. I served this with Black Bean and Couscous Salad (also from this site) which was also very good. The entire family loved it and has requested that I make this often.

Golden Rum Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2015
Has anyone experienced their cake shrinking about 10 min after taking it out of the oven? I looked this up online and I saw that it happens when you use Duncan Hines box mix only. I'm trying it again today with Pillsbury to see how it comes out

Bacon-Balsamic Deviled Eggs

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2014
These deviled eggs were fantastic! My 5yo daughter helped me make these and the whole family (husband and older daughter) loved them. I did add about 1 1/2 tsp of spicy brown mustard and also sprinkled with paprika. Will be making these again soon
