Broccoli Cheese Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2005
Oh my! I have been a member of Allrecipes since the beginning but have never left a review...this soup is still on the stove while my bread is warming and I simply cannot stop 'sampling' it! DELICIOUS! I too increased the broccoli and velveeta by a half, and also decreased the amount of cornstarch and mixed it with broth, otherwise no tinkering! Thanks Karin for sharing.

Chicken Breasts Pierre

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2005
This was very good, made it as directed but left out the salt and added a hefty dose of black pepper. Yummy, served it with brown rice (finally got my family to eat it and now it's 'normal') and steamed broccoli. Thanks Nancy!

Breaded Chicken Fingers

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2005
I made these for the kids at our Superbowl party and they were a hit with everyone. Added Mrs. Dash garlic seasoning to the marinade as well as the bread crumbs and served with honey mustard, ranch and barbecue dipping sauces.Mmm Mmm good!

Buttercream Icing

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2005
Made this frosting for a heart-shaped cake and of course, tinted it pink! I decreased the shortening by 1/4cup and increased the butter by same. The trick, as noted in other reviews is to let the mixer run and run! Very smooth and creamy frosting. It gets 5 stars for taste and ease of preparation. Makes a ton.

Guy Approved Meatloaf

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2005
This was good, but seemed a bit 'soft', maybe it was the chips. I will try it again because the family liked it. I won't put the chips in next time, they didn't add much flavor and it will cut out lots of salt and fat too!.

Jean's Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2005
This was so yummy and fresh tasting -must be that ginger. I used homemade turkey broth that was in the freezer and added chopped onion and fresh garlic that I lightly sauteed with the carrots just to soften them a bit. Served this tonight with hot biscuits to my husband and daughter when they came in from the snow...they both had seconds! Thanks...we will be having this again!

Aussie Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2005
This was good,(but not spectacular)and it was enjoyed by my family. The sauce was outstanding, left out the corn syrup and used dijon mustard. I made extra sauce and used it with breaded chicken fingers found on this site. I would make it again.

Award Winning Chili

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2005
This was OK, I was expecting so much more based on the reviews. I think I wasn't thrilled by the steak sauce flavor...kinda weird in chili. My husband didn't have seconds and he LOVES chili. Will stick to my own traditional recipe.

B.L.T. Salad with Basil Mayo Dressing

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2005
I have brought this salad to picnics, pot lucks at work and barbecues at home and it is outrageously delish! I too, add more bacon, more like 2/3 of a pound and also use a bit more lettuce. So good, thanks for posting!

Baked Ziti I

This recipe make a ton! I always split it between 2 pans and freeze one. It freezes well and I can keep one on hand to take to a neighbor or coworker in need of help with meals. Thanks Colleen and BTW, my daughter (also a Colleen) loves this!

Bodacious Broccoli Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2005
This is very good, someone brought a similar salad to work and it was good but the broccoli was too crunchy (hard)a complaint I heard by a few others. When I found this recipe I very lightly blanched then chilled my broccoli. I also used only a tsp. of pepper....yummy good stuff!

Chicken and Broccoli Braid

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2005
Made as is...my husband and 7yo loved this, but I thought it had a peculiar sweet taste...maybe from the almonds or the crescent rolls. Hubby took the leftovers for lunch and ate it cold, still loved it!

Grilled Orange-and-Bourbon Salmon

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2005
Used a large salmon fillet and did it on the grill with hickory chips..outstanding, enjoyed by all! Just a reminder...fish can get mushy if left to marinade too long, 1 hour is enough, certainly do not leave it for more than is called for in the recipe.

Aunt Teresa's Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2005
This was a flop for me...I used bone-in thighs, maybe if I had used boneless thighs it wouldn't have taken an hour and a half to completely cook the chicken to a safe temp.(no, there is nothing wrong with my oven temp!). It did smell good (we were starving) and I took others advice and seasoned liberally but it still was soupy and disappointing.

Delilah's Frosted Cut-Out Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2005
This recipe makes a tender, delicate sugar cookie. I decreased the salt to 1/2 tsp. and used 1/2 tsp. vanilla and 1/2 tsp. lemon extracts. We did not frost them, my daughter decorated with green sugars and sprinkles for St.Patrick's Day.

Oh, so yummy and creamy! I halved this recipe and tinted it a bright green for shamrock cookies and piped it on some cookies and spread on others, looked gorgeous! Easy to use.

Enchiladas Suizas

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2005
Oh goodness! these are outstanding! based on other reviews, I made one and a half times as much sauce, I did not use salt-free broth so I left out the salt. I didn't dip the tortillas in the sauce,(but I did fry them in oil) just covered the bottom of the baking dish with the sauce (which I pureed in the processor)and poured the rest on the top with 3/4 cup half&half. Scrumptious!! I garnished the top with sliced jalapenos along with the onions and used black olives. Everyone loved them..even my 7y.o. and the teens at the table. I served it with cornbread and for dessert...the margarita cake from this site....SO good! Much of this can be made ahead of time, just assemble and bake.

Margarita Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2005
This is to die for!!!! so very yummy and moist. The glaze is delicious, I made it a bit thicker and kept re-pouring it over the cake. At serving time I sifted confectioner's sugar (since the glaze was invisible) over the top and sprinkled with finely grated lime peel. Very lovely presentation and my husband, the teens and my 7year old devoured it! Thank you Carol, this will be a frequent flyer for me!!
