Walnut Cinnamon Rolls

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2010
These are quick and easy, but taste scrumptious! Perfect for someone like me who is intimidated by working with yeast doughs. We enjoyed these Christmas morning, hot out of the oven...gooey perfection! I did add a tiny squeeze of fresh lemon juice to the icing, I think it brightened the flavor nicely.

Very good glaze. I served some extra at the table as a sauce and it was delicious. Perfect blend of sweet and tangy.

Blue Cheese Ball

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2010
A true 5 stars! Made exactly as stated and it's fabulous. No one in my family likes blue cheese except for me and my elderly father. I made this for us to enjoy Christmas day and we couldn't keep everyone else out of it! It makes a huge cheese ball, so I divided it and made two cheese logs...saving one for New Year's!

Aunt Teen's Creamy Chocolate Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2010
Very dry and crumbly 'fudge' was the end product. I don't think I did anything wrong....going back over the reviews I see now that many folks had the same result. Followed the recipe to a T, with fresh ingredients and quality chocolate. I will be leaving this off my Christmas trays.

Mini Cheesecakes

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2010
Well, I was a little confused about the serving size. I didn't realize that this recipe makes 12 regular sized muffin tin cheesecakes. I was after the 'mini' cheesecakes that would be bite sized and I wanted to put them on a buffet table. So I doubled the recipe hoping for 24 mini cheesecakes! I ended up with over 60! That's OK, there were only about a dozen left behind at the end of the evening. These are so good and the fresh lemon juice makes the recipe outstanding.

Death By Chocolate II

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2010
Wow, this is sinfully good! I did a little scaling as the recipe makes a huge amount and I wanted to use my trifle bowl. I used 3 of the smaller boxes of pudding mix with 6 cups of milk. Instead of the frozen topping I made real whipped cream, using a pint of heavy cream and just a little sugar. I used only a little over half of the cake and could have done with a little less pudding too. The recipe does say to use a large punch bowl....their not kidding!

Peppermint Bark

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2010
This is so easy, yet delicious and very pretty on the dessert table! I followed the recipe as written except I did not let the the first layer chill for an hour. I put it in the freezer only as long as it took to melt the white chocolate. There were no problems with the layers separating even after the pieces had been sitting at room temp. for over an hour.

Curried Coconut Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2010
This smelled amazing while it was simmering and we were looking forward to our dinner. We were very disappointed in the final flavor. It was pretty bland or flat, with no depth to the flavors. I even used some extra curry based on suggestions, and 'cooked' it as directed. After tasting it, I added some Garam Masala powder, and some red curry paste I had on hand. This improved things quite a bit.

Michelle's Soft Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2010
Perfection, if you decrease the amount of flour a bit. These rolled out very nicely and stayed in the exact shape of the cookie cutters, no spreading. I used snowflake cutters with fairly intricate design and they were beautiful. Of course, they taste even better than they look. My new favorite sugar cookie recipe.

Rich Make-Ahead Turkey Gravy

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2010
Review update: I make this every year and it's a lifesaver for me. Just wanted to share that I could not find turkey wings anywhere this year so I used a pack of two turkey drumsticks, and the gravy came out just as good as it always has! This recipe was a life saver for me, I struggle with gravy and get so stressed out! I made this the day before Thanksgiving as I was prepping as much as I could for the meal. It roasted and simmered for hours and the house smelled just like a glorious turkey was in the oven. I did add some poultry seasoning to the blend. The gravy came out awesomely delicious and all I did at serving time was reheat in a saucepan and whisked in a spoonful or two of the turkey drippings from the roasting pan. Excellent recipe, thanks!

Roast Sticky Chicken-Rotisserie Style

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2010
Delicious chicken! Next time I will cut back on the salt by a teaspoon, it was just a teeny bit too salty but otherwise....perfection! My bird was almost 7 pounds and I gave it a bit over 5 hours and it was perfectly cooked. Thanks Sue!

Banana Bran Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2010
These are great muffins, I made a double batch and put them in the freezer for quick breakfasts. I substituted unsweetened applesauce for half of the butter, and used whole wheat for a third of the flour. To increase the nutritional value, next time I might use half all-purpose and half whole wheat. They are very moist and delicious, perfect touch of sweetness...we all enjoyed them and they are a much healthier option for a 'grab-and-go'!

Slow Cooker Latin Chicken

This was amazing, I loved the way all the flavors complemented each other, no changes needed for this great recipe! The chicken was so succulent, I think the browning step is critical, don't skip it!

Steamed Blue Crabs

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2010
This is the best method for blue crabs and is how my family has always cooked them. I don't add the salt, doesn't seem important. Make sure to serve with individual bowls of melted butter for dipping!

Easy Mexican Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2010
Great recipe, very quick and easy. Adaptable too! I sauteed a chopped onion with the beef, added a bit of fajita seasoning, and when I added the beans I also added a can of drained corn. Served it with crushed tortilla chips on top. Next time I'll make it with ground turkey and I bet it will be just as good!
