NO YOLKS® Chicken Noodle Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2015
The entire family loved it! I used leftover grilled chicken breasts from the weekend, which gave a bit of a flavor oomph. Also added some bok choy as it needed to be used up. It was a hit in this house!

A little too much vinegar, but the flavor was outstanding! I used blueberry infused balsamic.

Extra Simple BBQ Banana

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2015
Use a super underripe banana or you run the risk of banana jelly when you are done. These were ok....I prefer mine fried.

Fresh Fig Freezer Jam

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2015
This one didn't firm for me and the sugar never dissolved. I ended up having to cook it a little bit to get the sugar to dissolve and for the jam to 'jell' together. The flavor was perfect after cooking.

Black Mission Fig Preserves

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2015
This was bland for us. I missed the flavor that comes from the peel. Texture wise it was perfect!

Mamma K's Fig Preserves with a Twist

It turned super thick for us super quick. I over cooked mine so I thinned it out with a sweet vermouth. Everyone loved this jam!

Microwave Breakfast Ring

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2015
I didn't have a microwave safe tube pan, so I used a pie plate with mini ramekin. The cook time was more than 3 minutes. I followed the instructions completely before cutting into it and the dough on the bottom was completely raw. I nuked it for an additional 3 minutes and allowed to rest again. They were done. Texture wise it was not the same as baking...which gives a bit more of a crunch. I could see that you could easily OVER microwave these, and then end up with a solid brick....watch your timing!

Grilled Bananas

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2015
The name is misleading. basically you are cooking bananas on a grill, not grilling the banana meat. Use extremely firm bananas, otherwise they will completely mush up. Personally? I prefer them fried.

Creamy and Crispy Scalloped Potatoes

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2015
Glad I added garlic and extra paprika, this dish would have been bland without it.

Scalloped Potatoes au Gratin

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2015
Really missed some spice oomph, nutmeg, garlic, black pepper, etc. Plenty of sodium, but not enough over all spice or kick to give a wow factor.

NO YOLKS® Beef Goulash

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2015
There were so many things we didn't like about this recipe. I was doubtful about the amount of liquid, but it worked perfectly. There was no depth to this recipe.....it wasn't even bland. People with simple or bland palates would enjoy this. The most flavorful thing about this dish was the garnish of sour cream--and that was the only thing that kept this dish edible. No garlic, not enough pepper, overwhelming paprika and overwhelming carrot. If I were to ever attempt this recipe again, cut back the carrot to 1 cup and add celery. Decrease the onion, add some garlic. Add a nice bouquet of herbs instead of just 2 tsp of rosemary and 1/4 tsp of pepper as the entire seasoning. Add some red wine and/or balsamic vinegar for depth. Cut way back on that paprika as well. There is a lot of sodium in this dish but not enough salt for flavoring. Use homemade stock or even beef consumme instead of beef broth. For the time in preparation it took for this dish, to say it was a disappointment is the tip of the iceberg.

I thoroughly enjoyed this slaw, just as it was. It would be a fabulous topping for fish tacos!

Cheesy Chicken and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2015
It was ok. I added minced garlic to the onion and a bit more cheese. The kids considered it bland and added salt, pepper, scallions and bacon crumbles to their soups. They were happy after these additions. It's missing some serious flavor. Maybe nix the cup of water and use another can of stock--I used homemade but we still added 'stuff' to it. Bacon, more cheese, sour cream, splash of sherry....something. The ease of prep was fabulous, but it was just a 'meh' dinner experience for us.

Chicken Velvet Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2015
I wish I could say that this was FABULOUS!....but it was just meh. The texture is truly velvety, however the flavor is lacking...and I used homemade stock. I would saute some onions or garlic and then blend them into the soup, or maybe add a finisher of sherry or truffle oil. The kids added salt and pepper with some scallions. Some would call this simple, we called it bland.

Cranberry-Poppy Seed Coleslaw

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2015
This needed a ton of pepper. The preparation was easy, however the taste was overwhelming of 'bottled dressing'. We definitely prefer a homemade sauce...but in a pinch this works fine!

Blood and Sand Cocktail

The hubs was thrown off by the actual orange juice in the cocktail. He would have preferred just bitters or a twist.
