About this Cook
I am full-time working mom of a college graduate, middle schooler and 2nd grader. I LOVE cooking and experimenting. I want to instill the joy and fulfillment of cooking in my girls the way my mother did with me.
My favorite things to cook
Anything my family enjoys. I have found recipes that my little ones and I can do together and ones that my college kid can prepare to awe her friends with. As my kids get older they enjoy being with mom and have decidedly different tastes when it comes to cooking (spicy! sweet! salty! sour!) but we try to find a happy medium.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family makes brigadieros and rouladen for Christmas every year. It's a time when my mother, daughters and I sit around the table, open a bottle of wine and work though the preparation...and the wine. I just wish my grandmother was there to be with us...I have such fond memories of being around the table with her and my mom!
My cooking triumphs
I've finally learned how to make chicken marsala and have some easy to whip up desserts. I'm no longer afraid of making kebabs or shrimp scampi, all due to this website!
My cooking tragedies
I need to work on my pastry skills and on angel food cake. I just can't seem to get my egg whites frothed and stiffly peaked. Still don't like mustard or shrimp creole, now matter how it's prepared/how it's used!

Simple Moscow Mule
We loved it! New summer favorite drink! We ended up finding Ginger Beer at Total Wine & more, Fry's didn't have it. Don't try and substitute it with ginger ale; ginger ale and ginger beer are separate things.

Easy Cheesy Chicken and Rice
Don't add the extra salt, it isn't needed. The rice turns into more of a risotto, which isn't a bad thing. My rice hating husband HATED this. Super props to having everything raw and 'dumping' into a casserole dish, instead of having to precook and THEN bake, which is why we hate casseroles. Used extra sharp cheddar and ommited salt, otherwise, didn't change anything. This is extremely heavy, so don't be surprised if your family doesn't eat as much as they normally do.
