My husband and I are both vegetarian. We're always experimenting to find tasty, healthy vegetarian meals for our family.
My favorite things to cook
Anything vegetarian! I love to experiment and have fun in the kitchen. Baking is my favorite, but I enjoy cooking dinner every night, too.
My favorite family cooking traditions
For the first day of autumn, I make some cider on the stovetop along with some of the chocolate chip pumpkin bread (The recipe is on allrecipes.com. Delicious!). I love making pumpkin-everything in September and October. Every winter, I pick a day to bake Christmas cookies with my friends and husband. We bake up a storm and package the best ones to ship off to family around the country.
My cooking tragedies
Spice cookies! Oh, allrecipes, how you failed me on this one! They smelled so delicious, but they cooled into a form indistinguishable from hockey pucks.

Old-Fashioned Lemonade
Refreshing & easy! I peeled the lemons and added a handful of raspberries to the juicer and then followed the rest of the recipe. We were left with a delicious & pink raspberry lemonade.

Best Brownies
We skipped the frosting and just dusted the cooled brownies with powdered sugar. They are really good and simple to make. I'll definitely make these again!

Grandma VanDoren's White Bread
I've used this recipe a number of times and love it. I start the yeast in the water & sugar first before continuing with the recipe, and I always need a lot more flour than the recipe calls for. I don't even think you can start kneading it until you have at least 9 (closer to 10) cups of flour in there.
