Healthy living is an important factor in my family's lifestyle.  It is a conscious way of living that is ever evolving.  I have to say that this was not always the case, unfortunately, but I continue to make great strides by taking lots of baby steps. My journey has had many twists and turns… MORE

About this Cook
I'm a mom to 5 great kids and married to my best friend for 26 years. All Recipes has been an amazing source of ideas and inspiration that has refueled my interest in cooking and sparked one in my children.
My favorite things to cook
Anything sweet or covered in tomato sauce! Right now I am in a bread and pastry craze.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We have a family cook off every few months. Everyone finds a recipe on AR or comes up with an idea and we shop, cook and enjoy together. We have had some pretty interesting meals!
My cooking triumphs
Teaching my kids to cook. All 5 kids know how to shop for groceries and put together a few meals. They can bake, too! Now, if they could do their laundry just as well......;-)
My cooking tragedies
Leaving a cake on the table to answer the doorbell and come back to find our 2 Great Danes chowing down on the "OMG-this-took-me-forever-to-make-and-decorate-for-Christmas-dinner" cake! Arghhhhhh!

Peanut Butter Spider Cookies
I have also used Palmer's "Creepy Peepers" chocolate eyeballs for this recipe. They are the right size, individually wrapped candies and you can get a 10 ounce or 1 pound bag. They are under $6.00 for the pound size bag. Chill and cut as recipe states before using.

Honey Maid Holiday Cheesecake Presents
This is an easy recipe, quick to prepare and *good* as is. If I were to make again I would make some changes. First I would use 1 cup of graham cracker crumbs instead of crushing the crackers by hand. (note I reduced the recipe size to 20 servings and this is for that change) I would also add a 1/2 tsp of lemon juice to the filling and a full teaspoon of vanilla. I reduced the recipe to 20 servings so I could use two- 8oz blocks of cream cheese. I also used an 8 inch spring form pan. I used up a can of cherry pastry filling for the topping. Everyone enjoyed the cheesecake but thought it was a little light in flavor.

Apple Bran Muffins from Mott's(R)
The muffins baked up very nice, great texture but not sweet enough. I used the whole egg to keep the moisture. I would use all brown sugar next time and increase the amount. I may also try using a sweetened raisin bran as well. Nice muffin that I will make again with some tweaks.
