Herb Roasted Pork Carnitas

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2013
Wonderfully tender and tasty!! I couldn't find a pork loin roast so I bought 3.5 pounds of carnitas, which I first seared in a skillet with canola oil, and which baked in the oven just a bit overdone in 1.5 hours. Next time I'll bake for 1.25 hours. The sauce was excellent. I did use brown sugar instead of white, as other reviewers suggested. This recipe is definitely a keeper!!

Sweet Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2012
This actually did made good tasting dinner rolls, the best that I've made so far! (I'm not a big fan of white flour, but a couple of times a year won't kill anybody, and for Thanksgiving and Christmas one really should serve light fluffy rolls!) I did tweak slighly and used bread flour instead of all purpose, and did mix the dough in a bread maker. As I said, best rolls I've made so far!! Donna, thanks for sharing.

Lemon Curd Bars

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2012
The flavor was very nice. I made the lemon curd from the recipe on this site - Fabulous. However, I rated this 3 stars because it oozed oil. (I wonder if there was an error when the recipe was posted. Could it have meant one cube butter instead of one cup?? The texture of the butter/flour/sugar mixture was like cake frosting, not "course crumbs".) I probably won't make this again.

Jennie's Heavenly Slow Cooker Chicken - Slightly tweaked

Wow. This is crazy delicious! (I used Walmart's chives and onion sour cream, and it was great.)

Grandma's Egg Custard Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2012
This is a fabulous recipe! Custard has been my favorite pie since childhood, but until this recipe I've always had trouble with custard weeping. (Though because I tweaked the recipe using suggentions of other reviewers, it took me awhile to make the pie as written here. So even though I LOVE to tweak recipes I'll not be doing so with this one. The tweaked versions of this pie just aren't as good as the original recipe!) Thanks Marles for sharing!!

Morning Glory Muffins I

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2012
Made these muffins for the first time today. Wow! The family raved over them! Like many reviewers I did substitute applesauce for the apple butter, and I used part Splenda and part sugar, also used 2 whole eggs rather than 1 egg and two egg whites. This is one of those recipes that gives you the opportunity to adjust it your way and it still comes out fabulous! (If you substitute applesauce for the applebutter, it may need to cook a few minutes longer.) Thank you JACLYN for sharing!!

World's Best Lasagna, John Chandler's Recipe Tweaked Just A Bit

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2012
Wow! I used this recipe to make my very first Lasagna. It was fabulous! Everyone raved!! After reading the other reviewers, I made the sauce one day ahead and put it in the fridge overnight. Also, when assembling the lasagna instead of boiling the lasagna noodles, I put them in a pan of hot tap water for 30 minutes. This prevented the noodes from being overcooked. (And will switch to stainless cookware next time because the acid in the tomato sauce made my aluminum pot very, very shiny. Don't need aluminum in the diet!)

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2012
Yum! I usually don't like chicken pot pie, but this recipe is absolutely delicious! Like most other reviewers I doubled the sauce, and spices except salt, and used a deep dish pie plate. Also I added 1 teaspoon of minced garlic when cooking the carrots, celery and chicken. This is a wonderfully recipe you can easily tweak to your tastes.

J.P.'s Big Daddy Biscuits by John Pickett

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2012
Wow! Excellent!!!!! And easy too. Can't get much better than that. Didn't need to use the whole cup of milk, perhaps because I use a kitchen scale to weigh the exact amount of flour (160 grams), other than that the directions and ingredients were perfect! And such light, fluffy, tall, perfectly browned biscuits. Thanks for sharing such a great recipe!
