About this Cook
I'm a Texan living in the frozen tundra. I enjoy cooking and learning to make healthy food that tastes great for my family.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook for family and friends - whatever they want. I'm happiest when people are happy I have cooked for them.
My cooking triumphs
Soup! Chicken soup with homemade stock -so much better than from a can!
My cooking tragedies
Sadly, I do not bake successfully.

Broccoli Cheese Soup
I was not a fan of this, but my 4 year old and my husband loved it. I must say it did taste as I expected, so it gets 4 stars for being as advertised. I'm just more of a cheese purist and don't care for processed cheese food. It was an easy dish to prepare and I most likely will make it again since everyone liked it so much.

Creamy Chicken and Wild Rice Soup
This recipe is ingenious! So much easier and even tastier than my more complex and tedious recipe I had been using. I have made this repeatedly to rave reviews! The only change I make is to add more to it- carrots, celery, onion, garlic and prepared wild rice. I'm in MN and it's a crime to not use a heap of real MN wild rice in a wild rice soup. This is now my go-to recipe for chicken wild rice soup! Thank you!

Ken's Perfect Hard Boiled Egg (And I Mean Perfect)
This method worked perfectly for me! I have heard that less fresh eggs are the way to go when making hard boiled that are easy to peel, but I only had fresh eggs and I still had no trouble peeling my hard boiled eggs! The other reviewers tip of letting the eggs warm up a bit to room temperature before dropping them into boiling water is a great tip.
