About this Cook
I am not the type of cook that can throw things together and it turns out great like my Grandmother could, but I'm pretty good about following a recipe. I like trying new things.
My favorite things to cook
I like baking cakes and desserts the most. I decorate cakes for friends for birthdays and weddings, and I love finding new recipes to try and wow people when they get a cake from me..
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandmother on my dad's side, Nellie Ruth, would make a great coconut cake for everyone's birthday. You looked forward to it on your birthday and one at Christmas. I loved it.
My cooking triumphs
This may sound funny, but I've always been terrified to try to make any kind of fish dish. So I've always like salmon patties so I read through these recipes and found one that sounded like something I would like and gave it a shot. It called for the canned Salmon and I was even more scared of canned fish. (but as my hubby pointed out, tuna is canned) I gave it a try and it turned out GREAT. I was truely surprised... the little things
My cooking tragedies
I found an old, old church cookbook at the used book store. Those are the best recipes! I can just see all the church ladies getting together and bringing their best recipe to try and impress the other ladies. I love it, but anyway. I found a recipe called hummingbird cake that looked awesome. It was made in a bunt pan, then you make a browned, buttered, pecan glaze and pour it on while it is upside down, in the pan. Let it sit for a hour to let it soak into the cake before flipping it. Smelled SO good. It was tourture waiting. I went to flip. STUCK! I tried loosing with knife. Nope! It finally came out in peices. It didn't make it to the potluck at work, but even all crumbled and stuff, it was Soooo Soooo good.

Too Much Chocolate Cake
've made this twice now. It is awesome. I used the mini chips like someone suggested and it's to chocolatey and moist, you don't have to have any icing. BUT, I did top it with the satiny chocolate glaze recipe

Satiny Chocolate Glaze
I made it in just mins... it was so easy. I did the microwave suggestion that other reveiws had mentioned. It was a bitter sweet glaze, not my thing. I'll try it with milk chocolate, or even white chocolate chips. Maybe the mint ones in christmas? This quick recipe could have a lot of fun with it. Thank you!
