Hamburger Steak with Onions and Gravy

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2013
I doubled this recipe by adding a lb of ground turkey. My husband isn't big on onion so we omitted the sliced onion. However I did add a bit of minced dried onion to the burger. Didn't have the sherry so made it w/o & tripled the gravy. Very good and well liked

Oven Meatballs

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2013
This was a pretty good basic recipe, however I did change a few things. I used 1 lb ground beef, 1 lb ground turkey, added 1 cup seasoned bread crumbs, 1 envelope of onion soup mix, & a bit of rosemary. I made 12 large meatballs that fit in a 13x9 baking pan, I did not brown these in a skillet but rather put them in the oven for 12 minutes to brown up before adding the sauce. For the sauce I also changed a few things to taste 1/4 c. brown sugar, 1 tbls apple cider vinegar, and only 1 tbls soy sauce, the rest of the ingredients stayed the same. All in all excellent..and I'll certainly make them again. Even though I made my own changes to the recipe I still feel it justified the 4 stars because it's simple and gives you basics to tweak it to your own taste.

Homemade Black Bean Veggie Burgers

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2013
Only giving this 3 stars because these did not hold up well for me. I didn't read any of the reviews before making, I wish I had. Now that I've read some reviews I'll try making these again with the suggestions. The flavor was pretty good, but then when everything fell apart that was a big disappointment. That being said my parrots & dogs enjoyed the pieces no complaints from them. I'll review these again after a second try.

Loved this recipe. Only thing I changed was added a tbsp of sugar to add a bit of sweetness. I'll be making it again.

Rosemary Roasted Turkey

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2012
We used this recipe tonight for Christmas on a 7 lb turkey breast. It was so incredible moist & delicious, and I'm not a big fan of white meat but this recipe won me over. I stuffed the turkey cavity with fresh rosemary & onion, used only 1/4 cup oil herbs blend. Placed turkey breast side down the first hour, Turned out Perfect. I'm so happy I tried this recipe..Cant wait to try this with roasted chicken, and of course Turkey again.

Incredibly Cheesy Turkey Meatloaf

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2012
I made this for a potluck and everyone enjoyed it. After reading thru reviews I did make a few suggested alterations. 1. Added a packet of Onion soup mix. Omitted salt and pepper. 2. Beat egg and milk together and soaked the bread crumbs in this. 3. 2 cups of Colby/Jack cheese blend(shredded) 4. Mixed ketchup and bbq sauce together for the top coating. 5. Divided and made into 2 loaves and baked in a 13x9 inch pan. It was wonderful, and I will be making this again very soon. Thanks for the gr8 recipe.

Quiche Lorraine I

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2012
I made this today as part of our Easter Breakfast, unfortnitly I didn't realize that no one else likes quiche. Needliess to say I was the only one who enjoyed this. I did as others suggested and used a premade pie crust, the 4 eggs, 1 cup half&half, and baked at 375 for about 35 minutes. It set up very well. I bought a deep dish pie pan for this, but I wasn't needed, a regular pie pan would have worked just fine. I used chopped ham in place of bacon, cheddar & mozzerella cheese, instead of an onion I used dried minced onion, dash of garlic salt omitting the regular salt, and a bit of dried rosemary & italian seasoning. Next time I'll be adding some fresh veggies. Thanks for the gr8 recipe.

Creamed Chipped Beef On Toast

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2012
I hadn't had this since I was a kid and boy did it bring back some memories of my grandmothers kitchen. Quick and easy but I used budding brand meat that is used for sandwiches and cut it up to add it. Great meal when in a pinch, or just wanting something quick and satisfying.

Six Can Chicken Tortilla Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2012
I thought this was excellent, I made slight alterations. I added a can of condensed cream of chicken soup, as well as roasted chicken, not canned. I also added some taco seasoning, with these slight tweaks I thought it was a wonderful tasty soup. I topped with tortilla chips, and shredded cheese..so delish, and quick & easy..It doesn't get any better.

Pupusas de Queso (Cheese-Stuffed Tortillas)

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2012
I only gave this 4 stars because the water to masa is a bit off, however it's a great recipe with alterations. When making this I add as much water as needed to keep the masa from crumbling. I also use the technique that another person suggested by making the dough into the size of a golf ball and then pat it between my hands add my cheese, round it again around my cheese then pat it out. I also use a bit of water on my hands when patting it out to keep it more formed and from crumbling, it's very helpful. I fry mine in a bit of oil, they are so delish.

Southern Pulled Pork

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2012
I've been using this recipe for several years now, it's my go to for pulled pork. I DO NOT always brown my meat before placing in the crock pot, it really depends on how busy I'am that day. Both methods work well and give excellent results. When it's done we just pull the meat apart and add whatever sauce/condiments we desire..Very Tasty.

Pat's Cream of Potato Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2011
Very delicious soup. I gave it a 4 because I felt the soup could use some additional seasoning. I followed the recipe pretty close. To make a bit more soup, I used 7 potatos, added an additional 2 cups broth, and increased the potato flakes to 1 cup. I used a whole package of bacon, and used a bit of the grease to make the rue. Next time I'll add some additional herbs & seasoning which should make this a 5 star recipe..Thanks Pat for the Gr8 recipe.

Navy Bean Soup I

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2011
Excellent and worth my 5 stars. I only made a few minor changes. I soaked the beans over night. I didn't have onion so I used dried minced onion. No celery so I used dried celery seed. I didn't add the parsley, or garlic powder. I used 3 Ham hocks, a cup of carrots, and 8 cups of water..It was very delish and a recipe I will certainly make again.

Manicotti Italian Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2010
Yummy..This is excellent. This casserole is not at all calorie friendly, and a single bite proves it. It's a real crowd pleaser, and one my family really enjoys. We only use a Lb of cheese instead of the Lb and a half they ask for, half is stirred into the casserole, the other half tops the casserole. Supper easy to make, and really good..cant go wrong with this recipe.

Peanut Butter Cup Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2010
This was pretty good, however it was way to sweet for my family which is why I rated it 3 stars. If I were to make this again in the future I'd leave off the chocolate topping as I feel this is what put this over the top on sweetness.
