It has been awhile since my last entry but I am inspired to make a small entry. We have a local "bargain store".  This fantastic place offers items of all kinds at a reduced price.  They also sell something called a "$25 food box".  This fantastic thing is actually a… MORE

About this Cook
I love cooking and baking. I especially love the thrill of finding something new to try. I like to try new "culinary recipes" as opposed to new "cooking recipes". But on the other end of the spectrum, I enjoy finding new recipes that are inexpensive. I like to find a recipe that works with whatever meat is on sale on the front of the local grocery flyer.
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking Indian food mainly because I love eating it! I also enjoy baking, again because I love eating baked goods!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My Mother always made Indian food and I guess I am carrying on that tradition. We are not Indian.
My cooking triumphs
Creme brulee, slow cooker carnitas, dal makhani.
My cooking tragedies
I got a cookbook from the library on Southern Cooking. I tried three recipes and they were all horrible! My family brings it up often. I don't think they used a test kitchen when writing that cookbook!

Spiced Quinoa
This is fantastic! I omitted the pine nuts because I didn't have any and I didn't miss them. Very good cold or hot.

Creamy Chocolate Frosting
This is a fantastic frosting that doesn't need to be refrigerated. Frosting won't melt even on a hot day!

Holiday Pumpkin Cake with Rum-Cream Cheese Glaze
Used the glaze from this recipe for Mary Anne's Carrot cake. I can't rate the cake but the glaze was fantastic!
