About this Cook
A soon to be Mrs. living in the big city with my hubs. I grew up in a small town with a big family all around me and have adjusted well (thanks internets!)to city life! The kitchen has and always will be my favorite room of the house.
My favorite things to cook
Oh gosh, where to start. Breakfast foods, good hearty farmer fare and hot dishes (or Casseroles to those of you not from the Midwest),foods from other cultures, and party foods just to name a few.
My favorite family cooking traditions
The majority of US holidays hold some kind of a memory or traditon in my family. All the women in the kitchen cooking and talking, the men playing Euchre or debating in the living room. My Auntie K's mashed potatoes, Ma/Great Gram's Kringle and my Dad's steak are all favorites at our house.
My cooking triumphs
A few years ago due to a slew of circumstances I ended up cooking an entire Thanksgiving feast for my boyfriend's (and part of my)family in my little tiny apartment! My first turkey went off without a hitch (thanks to my future mother in law's instructions!) and everyone was well fed.
My cooking tragedies
Chocolate chip cookies! To begin with I'm an awful baker, (other than pies and some breads) but my bane in the kitchen is chocolate chip cookies! In high school my Home-Ec teacher watched me make them from start to finish and couldn't figure out why they wouldn't turn out. Alas, it is a curse.

Easy Swedish Pancakes
This is a pretty good recipe for Swedish pancakes, however my recipe from my Swedish Great Grandmother includes just a touch of vanilla extract as well. We serve ours with butter and either powdered sugar or cinnamon and sugar. Takke!

Easier Chicken Marsala
First time making this dish and with the help of this recipe it turned out beautifully! I served this chicken with thin spaghetti noodles and it was perfect.

Easy Herb Roasted Turkey
I used this recipe for cooking my first turkey and it was a hit! You can bet that I'll be using this recipe for years to come!
