About this Cook
I found being healthy by falling in love with food. Our society is so focused on convenience rather than taste. While I believe, our bodies DESERVE having real, whole foods. Your soul also deserves having dessert every once and a while since they are so much fun to create. :)
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake. Love love love love. Often, I don't each much of my desserts myself. I create desserts to give a little kindness to others. I also love to cook healthily. Anything where you can see an array of vegetable colors is just amazing. Starting from scratch with lean proteins, fruits, and veggies is just so rewarding when you put the first forkful in your mouth.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I come from a baking family. We always make dessert when friends are over, when there is a holiday, or just to show some simple kindness to the people we care about. But I think my favorite 'tradition' is renaming the desserts. In our family, we have recipes called anywhere from 'barf cookies' and 'insulin shock'.

Chocolate Mint Cookies I
This is my "famous" holiday cookie recipe. I crush candycanes by putting them in a bag (and put another bag over it, in case the bag punctures) and wacking them with a hammer. I put about a tsp of the fine dust into the batter and then decorate by putting the candycane bits on top of the "frosting". It is a HUGE hit at the office every year. A co-worker loves them so much that he has been known to eat NINE in one 3 hour period. I am not allowed to make anything else during the December pot-luck. :)

Simple Turkey Chili
This is a good starter chili. I like chili with a lot of veggies so I added jalapenos, green pepper, can of corn, and a can of diced tomatoes. Yum!
