Spicy Zucchini Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2013
YUM! I made these cookies for Hubby for Father's Day as oatmeal is his favorite cookie. I did not plant zucchini this year but my friend gifted me some when I had her and her hubby for dinner. The only thing I did different was to not remove the moisture from the zucchini because I was using parchment paper and did not grease the baking sheet. We found these cookies very flavorful, delicious, and perfectly moist. They are like a cross between a cookie and a muffin. Perfect with a cup of coffee. Just the right size. I will definitely make these again the next time I am gifted more zucchini. Thank you Deb C for sharing such a YUMMY recipe!

Fresh Strawberry Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2013
VERY GOOD! It wasn't until I was ready to make the topping that I found I didn't have coconut. I decided that I would skip the coconut and sprinkle with cinnamon after baking for added flavor. (I've found that adding it prior to baking, the cinnamon tends to burn). When I sliced the strawberries they weren't the best so I bled them with a touch of sugar for sweetness. As I was putting the strawberries on the batter there wasn't enough to cover it completely so I added a couple more. I knew from making apple crisp that it is cold butter that you need to use for crumb topping. For the topping, everything goes into the mixer at once and you use a whisk, mixing it until just prior to it becoming cookie dough. Pea size crumbs. Because of adding more strawberries, I baked it an additional 10 minutes. It was in a glass 8 inch dish so I was able to watch closely that it didn't burn. While it was cooling, I read some reviews of others adding vanilla. I really thought I was going to have a problem but not so. The strawberry flavor was very present and the cinnamon was a nice touch. We both LOVED IT! Thank you Sue Walker for sharing your recipe! I'm sorry for not following it exactly but it was very easy to adjust with what I had. The sign of a great recipe!

Candied Bacon

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2013
SWEET! I used regular sliced bacon instead of thick slice. There was just enough mixture. It took me 5 coatings and they were done as they were thinner. I didn't have any maple syrup so I used a recipe from this site called "Homemade Maple Syrup" and it was perfect. Thank you Chef John for another wonderful recipe. I can always count on you!

EXCELLENT! This recipe was a pleasant surprise! I was out of maple syrup and needed it to make candied bacon. Coming across this recipe kept me from having to run to the store. Once I tasted it tasted it I knew I had a winner. Now I'm craving pancakes and waffles! Thank you LUCYNDA for sharing your EXCELLENT recipe!

Barbequed Cabbage

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2013
I am a cabbage lover and this was VERY GOOD! I made a mistake when making it. I didn't see that the cabbage should be cut into thick shreds. I can only imagine how much better that would be for the leaves would really absorb the flavor even better. I served this as a side dish with teriyaki marinated chicken thighs. It was a good combination. Thank you ericasalad for sharing your recipe!

Teriyaki Marinade

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2013
DELICIOUS! This marinade was so easy to make and I had all the ingredients on hand. I used chicken thighs which I marinated for about 6 hours. I am going to try this with flank steak next time. The only change I might make is to switch out the onion flakes for onion powder. Thank you Mary Savard for sharing your DELICIOUS recipe!

Mustard Mayonnaise Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2013
AWESOME! There are so many uses for this recipe that I didn't hesitate to make the whole thing. I do believe it will "keep" in the refrigerator a long time; however, I am sure it won't be around long...it is that good! Tonight I served it with Avon's "Ham Cake-ettes". It was perfect! Thank you sanzoe for sharing such an AWESOME recipe!

Ham Cake-ettes

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2013
KEEPER ALERT! These are super yummy! I followed the recipe exactly, measuring everything so I wouldn't fail. I used my Pampered Chef food chopper to finely chop the ham. I put the patties together in the morning, then refrigerated them until dinner time. It made cooking dinner so easy. I only had to fry them about 3 minutes on each side and they were done. I served "Mustard Mayonnaise Sauce" from this site to accompany them along with a side of asparagus. This is a real winner and will be served many times over at our house. I just love having something new to make out of left-over ham. The crunch is my favorite part, be sure to use "panko" crumbs. Thank you Avon for sharing this SUPER YUMMY recipe---you rock!!

Take The Night Off Slow Cooker Pineapple Chicken

Reviewed: May 22, 2013
I love being able to take the afternoon off! We had a lot of yard work to do, so this recipe really came in handy. The house smelled wonderful each time I came in. It was a little sweet for our tastes so next time I would cut down on the sugar. I loved the pineapples so I would increase them. There's never too many pineapple chunks. This is my preference. Thank you Judy for sharing and the day off!!!

Homemade Ice Cream Cones

Reviewed: May 19, 2013
These cones are EXCELLENT! I used a Chef's Choice Waffle Cone Express grill to make them. I do believe using a waffle grill of some type makes these cones perfect. (They won't need flipping) The grill came with a cone form to wrap the warm waffle around. This could be made out of aluminum foil. Take the warm waffle, lay it on a towel, then wrap it around a cone form and leave on the form until cool. The ingredients are PERFECT, it's just a matter of mastering the technique! Thank you Mal for sharing your recipe!

French Salad Dressing

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2013
LOVE LOVE LOVED IT! I left out the onion and lemon juice as I didn't have any but will add it next time. I also used apple cider vinegar. This was EXCELLENT! It's a homemade Catalina French! I highly recommend this recipe if you like Catalina French. I'm e-mailing this to my family!

Allie's Awesome Easy Spice Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2013
AWESOME is it!! This cake was so easy to make. I just love a dump, mix, and bake cake; and, imagine that it fills your house with such a spicy fragrance! What could be better! Although I believe you don't need an electric mixer to make, I couldn't help but use my new mixer to try it out. I wanted a special recipe to make for the occasion and this one was it!! Both Hubby and I give it 5 stars all the way. Next time I will add raisins. Thank you Allie for this AWESOME recipe!!

Oven Roasted Teriyaki Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2013
YUMMY! My only substitution was to use brown sugar in place of the splenda. I did bake it at 420 degrees because my baking dish could not exceed 425 and I didn't want to chance breaking it. I set my timer for 10 minute intervals 6 times, so not to miss basting. We really enjoyed this recipe and I will make it again. Thank you for sharing.

Tonya's Terrific Sloppy Joes

This is a perfect recipe for anyone wanting to avoid spiciness and still enjoy a sloppy joe! I followed the recipe exactly, weighing the ketchup which amounted to 3/4 cup. This is truly "simple, quick, and tasty" as stated in the introduction. Thank you RetiredDad9877 for sharing!!

Easy Homemade Pie Crust

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2013
INCREDIBLE! I can't say enough good things about this recipe. It is the flakiest pie crust I have ever made. It not only is delicious, it is so easy to work with. I watched the video first, which is an added plus. It was so easy to make the dough but the way it handled after refrigeration was outstanding. After cleaning my food processor, I wished I had made extra dough to freeze. Next time I will! Thank you Chef John for another INCREDIBLE recipe!

Melt-In-Your-Mouth Meat Loaf

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2013
DELICIOUS! I only had a pound of ground beef so I changed the servings to 4. When I chose this recipe I read the ingredients and felt it would really be good. However, I failed to read "slow cooker"! Fortunately I didn't read that until after I had mixed everything. Feeling I had nothing to lose, I formed a loaf in my loaf pan and baked at 350 for one hour. It was sooo good! I loved the ketchup mixture and had spooned that over from the start. This recipe is a keeper and I will definitely make it again, both in the slow cooker or in the oven. Thank you NightHawk for sharing such a DELICIOUS recipe!

Blooming Onion

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2013
YUM! Just like what you get at the Texas Roadhouse! I used a soup ladle to make the cuts. This kept the blade of the knife from cutting through and kept all the cuts the same depth. After cutting, I soaked the onion in ice water then using my thumb I separated each row of pedals under water. (It's cold but the water helps to keep the pedals separated) I used a bowl to contain the milk and egg but used a zip lock bag for the flour mixture. I found I could work the flour mixture into the pedals that way. A "Fry Daddy" was used for deep frying. The first one I made seemed difficult but Hubby wasn't home and wanted me to make another when he got home. (He saw the photo!) The second was much easier because I knew what I was doing. After making the second one, I decided I will make these again. The dip was perfect! Thank you Joanne Bruck for sharing!
