Swedish Rice Pudding

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2015
SO GOOD! This turned out exactly as described. Creamy on the top and dense on the bottom meaning custard on the top and rice pudding on the bottom! I tried to capture that in my photo. This was really tasty. Too much water was used for cooking the rice so I poured it through a colander after 25 minutes and the rice tasted done. I did use vanilla bean paste in place of the vanilla extract, and, because I had a large serving of vanilla pudding mix, I increased the recipe by half changing the servings to read 9. I got almost all of it into my 8 inch square baking dish. I left out about 1/4 cup so I wouldn't spill it putting it in the oven. When served, I sprinkled with cinnamon. Hubby says, "where's the raisins?" I told him next time. There will be a next time. Thank you KOKO48 for sharing!

Cranberry Sauce II

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2015
What I liked about this recipe was the ease of preparation but it was too sweet for us. I will make it again this way but I'll cut down the sugar and use orange juice in place of the water. Thanks for sharing your recipe sal!

Sassy Freezer Slaw

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2015
AMAZING! We absolutely loved this! Hubby has to avoid green leafed vegetables so I haven't been making coleslaw. When I saw this recipe and the fact that I could freeze it, I made it for myself in individual portions. Hubby tried it and loved it. I guess now I'll have to hide when I eat it to keep him healthy. lol! Thank you Sassy for sharing! I wish I had tried it sooner!

Virgil's "Top Secret" Pork Chop Marinade

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2015
EASY & FLAVORFUL! I served with a side of applesauce and sweet potato fries. My only change was to skip the hot pepper sauce due to health issues. I cut the recipe in half as I was only making 2 pork chops. It was so easy to put together and marinate overnight. I couldn't wait to get cooking them as most of the work was already done. The house smelled so good while they were baking. I imagine these would even taste better on the grill. I'll be trying that when the weather breaks. Thank you for sharing duboo! You have a winner here and a winner of a father-in-law! Thanks to him too!

Banana Bread Bars with Brown Butter Frosting

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2015
SO GOOD! This recipe is definitely an addition to my print out recipe book as I know I will make it again and again. Hubby must have told me at least 3 times "This is sooo good! Save this one"! I followed the recipe with the exception of skipping the walnuts as Hubby can't have them. I added them to the top for me. I loved the addition of brown butter frosting. Thanks for sharing your recipe, AllieGeekPi!

Jan's Simple and Tasty Egg Rolls

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2015
ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! I made this for the recipe group and was so happy it got chosen. This was so easy to make and took little time. I fried all the egg rolls and intend to freeze what is left over from lunch. This way, I can pop them in the microwave for an evening snack without messing with oil. Thank you WFDM for sharing your recipe! You have a winner!

Instant Potato Pancakes

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2015
DELICIOUS! I was looking for something new to make for breakfast when I came across this recipe. Knowing that Hubby always enjoyed potato pancakes at "Perkins" when we traveled, I thought I would give it a try. I followed the directions with the exception of sprinkling minced onion as I didn't have any chives available. This recipe was so delicious. I used the spatula to squish the pancakes flat and get that crispiness that everyone loves. For a topping I mixed raspberry and strawberry jams with a little light karo to make a yummy sweet syrup that was similar to "Perkins" twin berry syrup. Although this did not taste exactly like Perkins potato pancakes, it was different and that is what I set out looking for. Nice find! I knew Chef John would not let me down! Thanks Chef!!

Snowflake Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2014
GOOD! My intentions were to make these cookies as snow flakes. I had my cookie cutters all set but the dough would not roll. I had placed it in the refrigerator in the morning and this was evening. I didn't want to add any more flour because I didn't want a dry bland cookie. What I did was get out my cookie scoop and roll the scoop of dough in coarse sugar then flatten. Because I was now off track and the dough was thicker, I lowered the temperature to 375degrees and baked for 10 minutes to be sure the center was done. The resulting cookie was delicious. I'm sorry this recipe did not work for me but the end result was GOOD! Thank you Patty Morris for sharing!

SUPER CUTE! I used skewers in place of toothpicks because my fruit was rather large and I wanted to used them as a garnish for milk shakes. They were loved by all. Thanks for sharing Andy!

Old Fashioned Porridge and Molasses Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2014
YUM! When I saw this recipe on the "buzz", I knew I had to try it. I found the directions very easy to follow. My only change was to make half the recipe resulting in two nice size loaves. I never had bread rise as good as this did. Once out of the oven we dug into a couple pieces with butter, and as soon as it cools, I'm heading for the peanut butter. Thanks manella for sharing. Your recipes never disappoint me!

Coconut Macaroons III

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2014
QUICK & EASY! This was my first time making macaroons and I was amazed at how quick and easy they were to do. I used a bag of coconut that was marked 5 1/3 cups feeling that was close enough. I baked them a little longer turning the temperature down after 15 minutes so they wouldn't burn. We were delighted with the taste and texture. I will definitely be using this recipe again. It would make a great treat for any occasion. Thank you FRATCOOK for sharing!
