Sweetened Popcorn

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2011
My 3-yr-old twins loved this! I did 1/2 brown/white sugar; a splash of vanilla, and next time will add some food coloring. I spread plain air-popped popcorn on 2 silpats & just poured the sauce over the popcorn & mixed up on the mats. I didn't have a big enough bowl and it seemed to cover it pretty well. This one's a keeper!

Moist Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2005
Excellent! A great base recipe to have cooked chicken & you can adjust the seasonings to whatever you need. I cut back on the butter & put garlic in. Also handy when I only need a breast or two.

Cheesy Breads

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2004
I left off the olives & green onions for the picky eaters in my family. I used lite mayo & 2% cheese. It did have a really strong flavor but I think it was more the mayo than the ranch dressing. Next time I'll probably try 1/2 sour cream & 1/2 mayo. Good stuff!

Pizza Pinwheels

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2004
Too much work for nothing special. The kids liked them but they would just as well eat homemade pizza & not need all my extra labor!

Cheesy Brat Stew for the Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2004
This was a gender-specific stew: the men loved it, the women hated it. I cooked the brats first in beer, & should have listened to another's advice & cooked the potatoes first. They were NOT done! Probably won't make this again unless the guys ask for their own batch.

Grandma's Chicken Noodle Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2004
Good stuff. We don't like a lot of onion so I added carrots instead for color & flavor. I've been looking for a good recipe & this is it.

Spicy Potato Soup II

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2004
Delicious! I didn't know what I'd get when I made it, thought it might be a little bland, but it turned out really well. We put shredded cheese on top of each bowl. Kind of like chili with potatoes instead of beans.

Ground Beef Shepherd's Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2004
Tasty & easy! I used skim milk instead of water for the potatoes, & added a can of corn. I seasoned the meat as I always do with garlic & spices so there was plenty of flavor. It was more like 6 servings than 4. Delicious. Thanks Ginger!

Homesteader Cornbread

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2004
I LOVE this recipe! My 3-year-old niece and 6-year-old nephew ask if they can make it every time we have chili. So easy, no weird ingredients, and comes out moist and perfect every time.

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2004
Yummy! I was in a rush so I didn't cook the noodles ahead & didn't simmer the sauce. Could be why I had so much leftover but the sauce is so great we had it over spaghetti the next night. This is a keeper.

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2004
My new favorite brownie recipe. So ooey gooey. I doubled the recipe & took the advice of some others for the frosting. I only needed about 1/2 the powdered sugar in the recipe. I didn't have any honey so I used caramel ice cream topping. They were gone fast!

Awesome Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2004
I doubled this for a picnic & used fat-free zesty Italian dressing. Everyone loved it, including my 2-year-old niece. I thought there was plenty of dressing, & it tasted better the next day.

Cheesy Vegetable Lasagna

Reviewed: May 16, 2003
I used only one pepper and that was plenty of taste for us. Veggies aren't big in our family but they liked this one. I'll definitely try it again and use different combinations of veggies.

Musaka

Reviewed: May 16, 2003
This was yummy! I didn't know what to expect from the spices used, but we loved it. Very tasty hearty dish. Kind of like chili with potatoes. The hamburger seemed to have enough fat on its own - I didn't use the oil at all.
