Hamburger Steak with Onions and Gravy

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2014
It was ok, wasn't bad, had a "meatloaf" taste to it we thought. But we did think the spices were a little bland and will try doubling them next time, personal taste we know. Also might ditch the sherry and double the broth. It's a good starter to put our own take on. Thanks for sharing.

Spicy Grilled Shrimp

Reviewed: May 26, 2014
Got this recipe emailed to me just in time for some shrimp I was going to grill. Must have been a sign as they were very well liked. After reading some reviews I didn't use a tbsp of salt, instead I used a heaping tsp. Used frozen shrimp that had some ice on them, next time I might thaw them first or marinade them longer, the flavor was faint but it was still good. Will be using this again.

D's Famous Salsa - tweaked

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2013
Great recipe that I made a few tweaks to. After making the salsa I add one 14.5oz can of corn, drain it completely, then stir it in. It adds some texture and crunch. I've also started adding 1/4 cup of Tequila to the salsa, getting good reviews on this tweak from family and friends. Add it in after as well, mix it very thoroughly. Note, this will make the salsa more "soupy" so I drain some of the liquid from the tomatoes before adding them. Also to save time, I just throw everything but the tomatoes in the processor first, give it a few pulses to dice up the cilantro and onion, then add tomatoes. No reason to dice them up first, let the machine do the work. A great recipe, thanks for sharing!

Pasta Pomodoro

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2013
Great recipe. I had everything on hand except the pasta, picked up some whole-grain pasta on the way home from work. Fast and easy to make. I used about a teaspoon of fresh ground pepper and 2 teaspoons of crushed red pepper. Gave it a light simmer in the mouth. Leftovers heated easily in the microwave. This one is a keeper!

Sirloin Steak with Garlic Butter

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2013
Very good, I was a little worried about 1/2 a cup of butter, but it was the right proportions for us. Buttery, garlicly, flavorful but not too overpowering. Even put some of the garlic butter on the baked potatoes we made, delicious. Thanks!

Sopa De Lima (Mexican Lime Soup)

Reviewed: May 19, 2013
Made this up at home, simply threw everything into a crock pot, left it on low for 6 hours, shredded the chicken when it was done. After reading some other reviews I only added 4 limes, it was still a bit strong, will only go with 2.5 to 3 next time. Also, simply used a 14oz can of diced tomatos. A good simple recipe, a tasty spin on plain old chicken soup.

Lamb Chops with Balsamic Reduction

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2012
Very good recipe, easy to make. The vinegar reduction is FANTASTIC. Made double the recipe (I had 8 chops) and a lot of the reduction, used it as dressing for salad I had with the lamb, everyone raved about it. Simple to make, tasty, thanks!

Awesome recipe! Made it exactly as stated, came out perfect! Great taste, great aroma, good texture, perfect cheesy-ness! I don't miss the ricotta cheese at all. Might try it with some italian sausage next time. Thumbs up from me and my friends.

good base, easily customizable with what you want. subbed in corn for the kidney beans, added a total of 3 cups of water, as it didn't have much liquid to it. added fresh cilantro. could have added more taco seasoning, next time. thanks for a good recipe.

Amazing Slow Cooker Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2012
It was ok. Had a flat chocolate taste, wasn't very sweet. Had to cook it longer as my slow cookers is deep and not large. Probably better if the cake was thinner.

Ginger Spice Cheesecake

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2011
Easy to make, creamy, the crust is very tasty. I know ovens can vary but definitely needed more than 55 minutes in mine. Also could have used a little more spice, the filling flavor was very faint and I could taste the tomato at times. I think 1/4 teaspoon more of cinnamon and nutmeg would have been good. Thanks for sharing!

Wasn't sure what to expect, first time ever making this. Ended up being a big hit! Next time might add some ground beef into the pie.

'I Hate Cucumbers!' Cucumber Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2011
I'll admit, I hate cucumber salad. I made this for a company picnic and followed some suggestions and used 3 tbs of sugar and 1/3 cup mayo. Let it sit in a fridge for a few hours before our picnic and was worried when I saw how much liquid had formed. The salad was a hit among all who tried it and I even liked it. I'm a convert. Looking forward to making this again.

Unbelievable Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2011
Excellent flavor, tender and moist. Cold leftovers are even great. Didn't have coarse mustard, just used ground, no problems and didn't have an overly powerful mustard taste. Might try poking the chicken with a fork next time to get some of the flavor into it deeper. Everyone loved it, this one is a keeper!

Vanilla Bean Cheesecake

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2011
Made exactly as directed, great recipe. Just makes too much, enough for a full 10" cheesecake plus a pan of mini's and still had a lot left over. Maybe scale back the amounts so there is less waste.
