About this Cook
I love baking and experimenting - I'll only follow a recipe the first time (mostly...) - I use them as a guideline. It must come from deciphering my mothers "a handful of this, about this much of that.... ". I love baking large quantities and sharing with friends.
My favorite things to cook
Treats! Treats! and More Treats! Pies (peach, coconut, apple), Tarts, cookies, fudge, breads, all kinds of cinnamon buns and cakes, and Dog treats.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Sunday dinner ;-)
My cooking tragedies
Pretty much any cake I make that needs decorating. The last birthday cake I made split apart 'like the continental drift" according to my brother - but it tasted good all the same.

Rhubarb Barbeque Sauce
Awesome! I don't usually write reviews but after making this recipe I had to. With a big patch of rhubarb, I was getting tired of pies, and jams and thought I would give this recipe a try. I didn't use the smoke, and used paprika rather than chipotle, because it was what i had. It's so good my husband went out and bought chicken to BBQ so he could use the sauce. (I just caught him dipping his fingers in the sauce :-)

Maple Whole Wheat Bread
Fantastic! We loved the recipe. We actually bought maple ham to make sandwiches! I added approx 1/8-1/4 more flour as it mixed. I also did not have bread flour, so I used all purpose flour with a tsp of gluten. The bread has a nice texture, rose nicely, and has a light taste. My husband really liked the bread (and he does not like anything that could be healhty) and he ate most of it before I got home from shool :)
