BBQ Country Style Ribs

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2011
As with any recipe calling for bottled BBQ make sure to use really good stuff, makes a huge difference! :) I love my sweet baby ray's. :) This was a great recipe that was very well received tonight. I didn't have lemons so I sprinkled on some lemon juice along with the minced garlic in place and they came out great! :)

Chuck's Favorite Mac and Cheese

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2011
We really enjoyed this!! My son gobbled it up and wanted a second serving. I halved it and had enough for about a 1 1/2 inch layer in a 2qt dish. I do think the topping should be halved, but it was tasty!! I used light cottage cheese, sharp white cheddar and natural sour cream - very tasty and creamy! :)

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2011
Replaced oil with applesauce and sugar (in batter only) with Stevia and otherwise followed instructions/ingredients (though I did have to add extra milk to get the batter to a workable consistency). I got 10 regular sized muffins from the batter. The topping is SO fantastic... makes these really special. The muffins themselves are gorgeous, delightfully moist and tender and just have a perfect consistency and flavor. I LOVE this recipe!

Layered Taco Dip

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2011
I skipped the green onions (don't like) and didn't have the black olives (but they would have been great!) and subbed sour cream for cottage cheese. This was really good! A very thick, hearty dip that worked well with tortilla chips and also used as an accompaniment to black beans in burritos - yumm!! Would add more of the veggies and some salsa next time. :) (Also I halved the recipe and still had a full pie plate sized dish!)

Sheboygan Grilled Brats

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2011
We thought these were very good. I loved the flavor it gave the brats but something about the beer simmered onions had a bit of an aftertaste to them that I didn't love but I still really enjoyed it! I am sure the beer you use has a huge impact in how the onions come out, but overall this was very easy and very tasty!

Turkey Bacon Avocado Sandwich

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2011
This is really good just as written and also so easily adjusted to what you have on hand or your personal preferences. I made it pretty much as written the first time though used white cheddar instead of provolone since that's what I had! I used a bagel thin instead of regular bread and used maybe 1 tsp of may just because my bread pieces were small. I used 2 slices of regular sliced (Oscar Mayer) turkey and 2 slices center cut bacon. I thought the avocado was a little too thick - but I used a pretty big one plus had small bread! :) I discovered I really liked it dipped in a little ranch too (which I had on my plate for celery sticks). I think next time I'd leave the cheese off, didn't think it really added anything. Very good sandwich! I made an extra to take to lunch at work tomorrow. :)

Very good burger! Made these for a family cook out recently and everyone really enjoyed them. I used regular milk instead of evaporated but otherwise followed ingredients/instructions.

Petra's Strawberry Shortcake

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2011
This was a wonderful shortcake recipe! I scaled to two and made mine in a large ramekin - perfect (and gorgeous) for two! The shortcake is soft, fluffy, lightly sweet and a little sticky - like a really good angel foodcake, but a little denser, I "cheated" and used whipped topping I already have but the real stuff would have been a wonderful compliment to top this one off with. So, so good!

French Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2011
This is the 2nd french bread loaf I've tried from AR and we really enjoyed it as well! I did think it was fairly bland and might add a touch more salt next time, but the texture and everything else was great!

BLT

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2011
Loooove classic BLTs - I take them for lunch at work all the time. I love piling the veggies high! I cook the bacon in the microwave and pat with papertowels before adding to the sandwich.

Pizza Mac Casserole

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2011
This was very similar to how I prepare our ziti recipe (just essentially swapping mac for ziti noodles), so taking that into consideration for how we like things flavored I doctored the meat with a 1/2 TBS each Italian seasoning and garlic powder and 1 TBS minced garlic (I also used a whole pepper and a whole small onion, diced, and cooked with the meat and about 1/2 cup fresh mushrooms I wanted to use up - we like a lot of veg to meat ratio). Once the meat mixture was done and combined with the sauce and noodles I taste tested and ended up adding more Italian seasoning, garlic powder and pepper as well to taste. I sprinkled on some grated parmesan (not much, maybe 1/4 cup over the top) before the first 20 minutes of baking and added about 1/4 cup of shredded parm to the mozzarella cheese for the final 15 minutes of baking! Good, hearty and quick and tasty for a weeknight. I think each person just needs to taste test and adjust seasonings accordingly - a lot will probably depend on the pizza/spaghetti sauce you use as well. If you normally doctor the sauce you buy you will want to doctor it in this as well. Served with green beans and some homemade garlic french bread - yumm!! :)

We loved this one! I followed ingredients/instructions but did use Stevia (3 TBS) instead of sugar and butter instead of margarine. Light and tender with a very nice flavor!

I loooove making breakfast sandwiches like this! A little s&p on my eggs for extra seasoning, but that's it - follow everything else. :)

Mama Moe's Scalloped Potatoes

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2011
I halved this recipe and still had a half full 9x13 dish (with about 4-5 servings worth). I only used 1 can of cream of mushroom soup since I halved it, otherwise followed instructions and ingredients. We all really enjoyed these!! I think next time I would add a little salt and some pepper to the layers of potatoes for a little more flavor, but the cheese and soup amount was great and I really liked the creaminess from them!

Italian BBQ Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2011
This sauce was amazing. I thought it smelled great when it was simmering, but I love balsamic vinegar! It was like balsamic vinagery BBQ sauce! I ended up letting it simmer on very low heat longer than the recipe called for and it got super sticky and thick and fantastic. I let the chops marinade in about 1/3 of the sauce while I prepped my side dish and then grilled. I ended up having to finish them in the oven for 20 minutes because mine were cut thick and I didn't want them drying out on the grill. We all really enjoyed this recipe!! Hubby said to save the extra sauce so we can have these again! :)

Creamy Onion Garlic Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2011
This was good, but I found it to be a little heavy on the cream cheese and a little light on the garlic flavor - I'd use about half the cream cheese and add in minced garlic for our personal tastes and preference next time. :)

Italian Salad Croutons

Perfect!! :) Easy and delicious - I used Hawaiian honey whole wheat rolls and otherwise followed ingredients/instructions (though I didn't use a bowl to toss these in, I drizzled the butter mixture over the bread cubes directly on the cookie tray!) :)

YUMM! Hubby loved this one - followed instructions but only used 1 5-oz container of gorgonzola instead of the 8-oz called for and it was plenty flavorful, IMO!
