About this Cook
Have not had time to actually concentrate on cooking until March of 2012 when I resigned from my full time position as a claim adjuster to be a full time mom. Loving every second of my new life, taking time to smell the roses and enjoying learning more and more about the art of cooking! My family also seams to be enjoying this new chapter. Our meals no longer consist of recipes that start with open box here.
My favorite things to cook
So far, anything and everything! Still in the learning/development stage. Im constantly reading recipes, watching cooking shows or doing cooking on line searches. I plan the night before whats for diner, shop the next morning for needed ingrediants then have a grand ol time cooking that afternoon/evening for diner. Life is good and tastes deliscious!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandma was born in 1918, cooked everything from scratch and her meals always made you beg for more! (they were that good) I hope to be a least 1/2 the cook she was. She lived across the street from me the whole time I was growing up but at that time I had no interrest in cooking. She passed away four years ago, unfortunitly that was before I took such a major interrest in cooking. I wish I would have spent more time with her when I had the chance. She was such a loving women so full of knowledge and life experiences....I knew that, I just didnt take the time to get to know more about her life experiences and cooking expertise. My goal is to try to reproduce the wonderful foods she spoiled us so much with and pass those along to my kids. However Im keeping the recipes in a cookbook and on this web sight so my kids can pass along family traditions to theirs.

Seasoned Cornish Hens
This was the first time I have ever made Cornish Hens. I followed the recipe to a T and my family loved it! They loved it so much it is now our family tradition to make this every year for our Christmas diner. I served it with corn, classic rice pilaf (recipe by Chef John can be found on this web sight), roll and green bean casserole.

Easy Chili I
Delicious!! I have already made this chili recipe twice and my family has loved it each time. The second time I used the chili to make chili dogs. I made the recipe as listed but I doubled it to make sure there was plenty for my families hardy appetite and possibly a few left overs.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings
Love this recipe! Very simple and tastes like you spent all day! I'm new to cooking, never made chicken and dumplings but always wanted to learn how. My grandma's chicken and dumplings were out of this world good but unfortunately I didn't get the recipe from her before she passed. Taste wise this recipe comes soooooo close to grandma's! The only way you can get any closer is if grandma was here to make it herself. My whole family enjoyed this meal. I don't know who was more impressed (them or me) that this turned out so good (since Im not an experienced cook at all) especially on my first try! Thanks so much Janiece! P.S. I did exactly as listed but I also added some cumin, poultry seasoning and used chicken broth instead of water. Also flattened the biscuits like little pancakes then cut them in strips. Yummmy!!
