I'm married with two kids - my picky eaters and I are constantly on the go, so I've developed a skill of multi-tasking in the kitchen and making "undesirables" (re: vegetables and meats) tasty and fast.
My favorite things to cook
I love making pheasant and venison dishes - mostly because the meat is free thanks to my husband-the-hunter. I'm fairly good with chicken and hamburger, and I use every bottle of spice in my cupboard on a regular basis.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Christmas baking is number one. I love getting together with my mother and my kids, making cookies and fudge and other holiday goodies. And believe it or not, I like peeling potatoes. My daughter helps me right now and we have discussions on Barbie, the kids in her class and her favorite movies. She's growing up so fast, so I really treasure this time with her.
My cooking triumphs
I baked a huge, 6 layer cake for a friend's birthday party. I'm not very artistic, so I was very pleased with the shape and the decorations. I wanted to cry when they cut into it. If only they knew how long I labored over that stupid thing... :-)
My cooking tragedies
I CANNOT make gravy. I ALWAYS screw it up. It's pretty much a family joke. Even the packets don't turn out so good. It's hopeless.
