I am a sunbird of Sun City, Arizona. I love to cross stitch and weave baskets. My husband and I are retired and he is learning to cook. Great for me. We have more company when we are in AZ. for the winter so of course we do more cooking. I go to a lot of pot lucks and Allrecipes always comes to the rescue.
My favorite things to cook
I really don't have a favorite thing to cook but I love to try out new dishes. Most are a success.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Cooking Easter dinner. I am Polish and we always have a traditional polish meal. Polish sausage, peroge, ham, noodles with chicken livers, of course hard boiled eggs, and rye bread and butter.
My cooking triumphs
A cake that I made for a birthday. Angel food with a light mint icing and unsweeted chocolate drizzeled along the edge. Ymmmmmm.
My cooking tragedies

Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff I
I loved this dish. I followed JILLYBEAN14 suggestions and it turned out wonderful. My slow cooker but be fast because it was done in 3-4 hours. I did not use a bullion cube. It may need a little more liquid at the end and I did not sautéed mushrooms but just dumped in the sliced mushrooms raw and they cooked nicely without disappearing. Will make this again and for company what a treat.

Chicken Salad With Bacon and Red Grapes
I have been making this salad for quite some time now and it is always a favorite with my husband. I don't change anything except sometimes I will add instead of grapes…apples or pineapple and maybe some chopped pecans.

Ham and Noodle Casserole
I loved this recipe because it is so easy to twice. I used cream of mushroom soup and added sliced raw mushrooms and frozen peas. Took the suggestion of another reviewer and used crushed Ritz crackers on the top. The biggest thing I changed is the assembly , I did not put the noodles in with the other ingredients but when I baked it, but served them separately. The noodles would have sucked up the liquid and make the casserole dry. I did bake the other ingredients for 45 min. at 350 degrees so the cheese, mushrooms and onion would cook. It was delicious. Could use tune or chicken in this also.
