My background is in the Motion Picture and Television Industry, where I was a food stylist/property person for many years. Consequently, I really like making things look as good as they taste!
My favorite things to cook
Rind-on pork roast w/ Cider glaze; Rare Duck Breast w/cranberry-wild mushroom confit; any dessert; any potato dish, any grain side dish. Lots of herbs and spices; fruit sauces/glazes and anything HOT!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Hopping John at New Year's, Traditional Irish at St. Pat's, Roast Goose at Yule, canning from Spring to Early Fall with my Dad and Mum. Food was such a social ritual in our house when I was young; and I try to keep that going even now. The best times I can remember always included wonderful people and wonderful food!
My cooking triumphs
I've been pretty lucky...no real drastic failures yet, and many things have turned out quite well. When I was 16, I began teaching myself to cook, and cooked my first Thanksgiving meal. It turned out wonderfully, and an obsession with feeding people was born!
My cooking tragedies
See my triumphs...so far, so good...but you never know!
