Milky Way® Cupcake Icing

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2010
Yum! I used this as a filling for a yellow cake for my son's birthday. He loved it! I did thin it out a little bit, and I cut the sugar down a little, since I was going to be icing the cake with a frosting that I know is super sweet. Very good. I will use this again. Next time on cupcakes. I just really didn't want to wait until I got another chance to bake. This recipe has been calling me since it got published :) Thanks!

These were amazing! I made these for breakfast this morning. My kids inhaled them! Even my neighbors son came in and devoured 2. I didn't change a thing. They are perfect as is. I have been looking for a good banana pancake recipe and my hubby has been looking for a choc chip pancake recipe and this is perfect! Thank you so much for this recipe.

New Mexico Green Chile Breakfast Burritos

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2009
Wow these are really good. I really wasn't expecting to much from this recipe since well its a breakfast burrito. Not much surprises there. But... the green chili sauce in this recipe makes these amazing! I don't think I'll ever eat another breakfast burrito without it. I did change the recipe a little bit. I could not find frozen Hatch, New Mexico green chili peppers so I used canned diced and roasted green chilies, since I was using canned I used 2 7oz cans to make sure I got a lot of the green chili flavor. Also instead of using vegetable oil to fry the potatoes in I used the bacon grease (why let all that flavor go?). My potatoes must have been really big because I had way to many after shredding them. I think 2-3 would have been perfect. Thanks for the recipe I will be making this again!

Willard Family German Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2012
Fabulous! This was my first attempt at a German Chocolate cake, I kind of expected it to be a little more complicated but this was easy. I had to use the milk and vinegar substitute for the buttermilk because I forgot to bring my list to the store and of course forgot the buttermilk :( It worked fine. I used butter in both the cake and the frosting since I never have margarine. I also made some chocolate frosting for the sides of the cake, I didn't have enough of the coconut frosting but I think that is because I'm a little heavy handed with frosting. My family was sad when this cake was gone and there was a fight over the last piece ( I won! ) Thanks for the great recipe, its a keeper.

A Plus Fair Corn Dogs

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2006
This was a great recipe. Was perfect for family movie night and the kids and hubby were asking when we were having it again before they were even done! One suggestion though. Dust the hot dogs in flour before battering them so the batter doesn't fall off, grease splattered everywhere with the first one but after i used flour no more problems.

Ground Beef Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2012
We really liked this soup. I had to change it a bit based on what I had on hand. I used frozen vegetables not canned, and had to use diced tomatoes. Since I made these changes I had to add extra water and I also threw in an extra can of tomato sauce. Thanks for the recipe!

Grands!® Mini Pizzas

I made this for the kids after school snack. They loved them. I put the biscuit into a ziploc bag and flattened them out that way, it made it easier to shape them that way.

Banana Trifle

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2009
This is so tasty! Family loved it! I used a 16 oz pound cake because that was all they had at the store and hey who doesn't like a little extra pound cake? This was simple and very delicious. Will make again. Thanks for the recipe.

Hash Brown Potato Casserole

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2009
This tasted really bad unfortunately. We really couldn't eat this. There is way to much sour cream in this recipe. I even cut it down to 1 1/2 cups. I would cut the sour cream to 1 cup at the most. I had to melt some cheese slices into a serving to be able to eat it. It did help. Needs more cheese too. And the cream of potato soup sounds like a good idea but when you are eating it all of a sudden you get a very large chunk of potato which just is not a good thing. Sorry I just really did not like this recipe.

Easy White Chicken Chili

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2012
This was tasty. I didn't really change the recipe to much but I did use a little less chicken broth. And it looked a little bit to soupy for my tastes, chili for me has to be thick. So I spooned out some of the beans, about a cup, and pureed them then added them back in so it would thicken up. The family really enjoyed it. Thanks!

Southwest Stuffed Chicken

Reviewed: May 20, 2010
This was really good. I did use Panko bread crumbs instead of regular. To pound the breasts flat I put a breast in a Ziploc bag on top of a plastic cutting board and went at it with my cast iron skillet :) Fun! I skipped the flour coating and just used the butter to the bread crumbs. I don't think the flour was necessary and it didn't affect the flavor or anything. Great recipe. Thanks.

Old Fashioned Pineapple Upside-Down Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2010
This is a very tasty cake. Mine did come out a little bit tough but that is my fault. I over mixed it. It still came out fluffy. Next time I think I will use vanilla extract and add a little pineapple juice. Now I really don't want to put this but just in case it will save someone else someday... I had the brilliant idea of making this in a bundt pan. Don't Do It!! Unless you want to spend 10 minutes shaking, banging, cussing, and finally pleading with your cake to come out of the pan. I did finally get it out though just wasn't fun or pretty :)

Flan Mexicano (Mexican Flan)

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2012
This was my first attempt at Flan, it was also my first time eating flan. Whenever I have seen it at a restaurant I was never tempted to try it. But the other day my son was asking about flan and if it was good or not so I figured the best way to find out was to make it. I had to make this 2x. The first time I tried to make these in mini spring-form pans. Really bad idea they leaked all into the water bath and just made a big yucky mess. So I tried it again the next day. I used 6 6oz ramekins and baked for 40 minutes. This was fun to make. And surprisingly easy. I expected it to be more complicated. The texture was silky and smooth. Lovely flavor with just a hint of orange to it. Really fantastic and now I know that Flan is fabulous. Thanks for the recipe!

Chocolate Tres Leches Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2012
This is a fabulous cake! Ever since I made it my family has been begging me to make it again. Love that. Very easy to make to which is always a plus. I couldn't find the Swiss chocolate cake so I ended up using Devil's Food. I realized when I was making it that my cake mix was 16 oz and not the 18.25 called for. I wasn't sure what would happen since it was a smaller box so I cut the chocolate milk down to 1 cup. It worked nicely. When I was making this my hubby and my boys were thinking it was going to be weird since you pour all the milks over the cake, but they all loved it. When I went to make the frosting I realized I only had 1 1/2 cups of cream so I had to cut the frosting in half :( Still really good. Hubby even went back for another piece later in the night, which isn't something he does with cake. Fantastic recipe! Thanks MrsFisher0729 :)

Sarah's Spinach Side Dish

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2012
I don't usually stray from the way I do spinach since my son doesn't like to much done with it. But I wanted to try this so I took a chance. I thought it was really good. My son poked at it and whined about why I was messing with his spinach, finally convinced him to try it and he loved it. He ended up eating 3 servings and scraped the bowl of the leftovers :) Love when that happens. Good thing I doubled the recipe! Will definitely be making this again.

Death by Chocolate Mousse

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2009
Oh my this is so good! I used the food processor method and this went together super fast. I did use chocolate grahams instead of the cookies. Also instead of white sugar I used powdered sugar. It mixes in much better with the heavy cream than regular sugar does. Came out perfect! Thanks.

Tasty. Very easy to make. I cut the recipe down for just me and hubby. And instead of sugar I used chocolate syrup. Also used more coffee than called for. I wanted a stronger coffee flavor.

Mom's Signature Red Velvet Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2011
I've only eaten Red Velvet Cake once in my life and it was well...bad. I thought I would try one anyway and see if I liked it or not. I really liked the cake part of this recipe. It was moist and had a nice flavor to it. The frosting was really sweet and kind of grainy, the grainy could be my fault I've never made a cooked frosting so I'm not sure if its supposed to be that way or not. I was also kind of confused about how much sugar was supposed to go into the frosting. The ingredient lists 2 cups but the directions say 1. So I used one then tasted but I thought it wasn't sweet enough so I added the other cup of sugar. It ended up being to sweet once I put it on the cake. But I don't know if it was supposed to be 1 or 2. I'll probably make the cake part again but use Ricks Special Buttercream Frosting for the frosting part. The frosting wasn't bad it was just not for me.

Pumpkin Bavarian Cream Tart

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2009
This is a tasty pie. Don't worry about getting the whipped cream completely worked in. Its nice to get a little bit of it in with the pie. Makes a ton of filling. I fill up a deep dish pie shell and still had about a cup of extra filling. I just put it in a bowl. Still yummy. Thanks for the recipe.

Blueberry Pinwheels

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2009
Wow these are really good. I wanted something different to make for breakfast today and since it was going to be cold in the morning these sounded perfect. For the dough I only had a 12 oz can of evaporated milk so I used that minus 4 T of the milk. And it was not tough at all for me. Also instead of splitting the dough in half and rolling it out twice I just rolled it out into one long piece. I used frozen blueberries in this recipe and was skeptical of the footnote saying not to thaw them, but it worked great. To cut them I used floss. This makes it very easy to slice without squishing everything out of the rolls. I did not get 24 out of this recipe but I cut my rolls a lot bigger. I got 12 good sized rolls out of it though. Which I prefer the bigger ones. I made these the night before so after I cut them and put them in the pan I covered with plastic wrap and put them in the fridge. In the morning I pulled them out when I started preheating the oven. It works perfectly. I did change the frosting. I used a cream cheese frosting instead and it was really good. I used 4 oz cream cheese, 1/4 c butter, 1 cup powdered sugar, and 1 t vanilla and a little milk until it was the right consistency that I wanted. The sauce that is in the bottom of the pan when it is done baking is really good to spoon over the rolls. Don't let it go to waste! Will make this again.
