Chocolate-Filled Crescents

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2012
Yummy! These were easy and tasty. I made them for a quick and special Sunday morning treat. I did some with just the mini choco chips, some with chocolate and white chocolate, and some with chocolate and butterscotch. There was much debate over which one was the best. I think I would really have loved these with dark chocolate in them.

Baked Potato Soup I

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2012
Perfect! I did use the bacon grease instead of butter for the flour mixture. Why waste all that flavor? I also left the skin on the potatoes it's so good I didn't want to waste it. Great soup for a cold and windy day!

Spooky Homemade Marshmallows

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2012
Who knew marshmallows would be so easy to make? These are tasty and have a great texture. I cut them into pumpkin shapes. It took me a minute to figure out the best way to get the cut shapes out of the marshmallow sheet. I found that if I used a metal spatula to pry a section of the marshmallow up before cutting the shapes they just popped right out. And tons of powdered sugar on your cutters is a definite must. My kids think I'm Super Mom because I made homemade marshmallows!

Creepy Mini Pizzas

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2012
This was fun for the kids to do, and the adults too! I wasn't thrilled with the crust but it was okay. It lacked flavor and was tougher than I'm used to. Great idea though.

Bacon and Caramelized Onion Rolls

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2012
Oh yeah these are fabulous! Definitely holiday worthy. I was a bit nervous about the port wine since I've never had it but it was wonderful. I didn't cook then in a muffin tin, I just used a 9x13 pan. The dough was easy to work with. The kids weren't very thrilled with these but us adults loved them. They reheated well the next day too. Yummy!

Classic Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2012
Tasty rolls. Very easy. I did let the dough rise after kneading it for about 45 minutes since I had to run and pick up my daughter from school. Went really well with my potato soup.

Caramel Corn Treat Bags

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2012
Oh yum-yum-yummy! I really loved this stuff. The caramel was fabulous and it was a lot easier than I thought it would be. I used Dark Karo for this recipe. I made the popcorn using Microwave Popcorn (AR) because I couldn't seem to manage it on the stove :/ I added mixed nuts, candy corn and m&ms. This is actually pretty addictive I had to really convince myself to walk away. Family loved it too!

Bacon, Egg and Cheese Sandwiches

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2012
My husband really liked these. I thought they were okay. I added in some extra cheese and only soft scrambled the eggs so that they wouldn't be over cooked after baking them. Worked out for me the eggs were still moist and tasty. I had a hard time rolling them up like you are supposed to so I ended up just wrapping them into a pocket.

Chocolate Tres Leches Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2012
This is a fabulous cake! Ever since I made it my family has been begging me to make it again. Love that. Very easy to make to which is always a plus. I couldn't find the Swiss chocolate cake so I ended up using Devil's Food. I realized when I was making it that my cake mix was 16 oz and not the 18.25 called for. I wasn't sure what would happen since it was a smaller box so I cut the chocolate milk down to 1 cup. It worked nicely. When I was making this my hubby and my boys were thinking it was going to be weird since you pour all the milks over the cake, but they all loved it. When I went to make the frosting I realized I only had 1 1/2 cups of cream so I had to cut the frosting in half :( Still really good. Hubby even went back for another piece later in the night, which isn't something he does with cake. Fantastic recipe! Thanks MrsFisher0729 :)

Easy White Chicken Chili

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2012
This was tasty. I didn't really change the recipe to much but I did use a little less chicken broth. And it looked a little bit to soupy for my tastes, chili for me has to be thick. So I spooned out some of the beans, about a cup, and pureed them then added them back in so it would thicken up. The family really enjoyed it. Thanks!

Basil Chicken Ravioli Carbonara

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2012
Loved this one! It was a rough evening when I made this, I had 2 kids that needed to be picked up from activities, open house and a parents meeting that I had forgotten about. Luckily I had everything for this on hand so I thought I'd try it since its so quick. I used frozen ravioli I think it was an 11 oz package, homemade bacon bits and leftover cooked chicken. Dumped it all in the pan and let it simmer until it was done. I didn't use the full amount of half-and-half, just slowly added until it was the right consistency for out tastes. Also threw in some fresh grated Asiago cheese. I didn't have any fresh basil or parsley on hand so I topped with some green onion. Tasty, the family liked it and it was a dinner saver on a really hectic night. I would make this one again.

Cheese-Stuffed Giant Meatballs

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2012
I'm torn on this recipe. My family really liked but I wasn't a fan. They are definitely moist. I added some garlic, onion powder and Italian seasoning to the meat mixture. And instead of string cheese I diced up some mozzarella cheese and used that. I preferred them without the additional sauce on top. Even with the additional seasoning they weren't quite right. I just didn't really like the flavor of the sauce which really came through. But my guys really liked it.

Easy Weeknight Chicken Pot Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2012
I'd actually give it 4.5 stars because its almost there just needs a bit of extra love :) But we really enjoyed this. Even my Chicken Pot Pie hating husband went back for seconds and reheated it for lunch. Which says to me he only thinks he hates it. Now I did make some changes to the recipe. I'm not a fan of frozen mixed veggies (lima beans eww) so I diced some carrots, onion, celery, fresh green beans, and a steamed diced potato. Added some frozen peas. Sauteed all these in a bit of butter until they began to soften. Then I made the sauce and added it to the veggies/chicken mix. I did add some extra poultry seasoning, parsley, onion powder, sage and a little thyme. Even with the cutting up of the veggies this went together quickly, love the rotisserie chicken. I didn't add any extra flour just let the sauce simmer with the veggies for a while until it started to thicken then filled the pie crusts. I did use deep dish pie crust. I thought the sauce was a nice kick start to a pretty good Chicken Pot Pie.

Easy Weeknight Bacon Mac 'n Cheese

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2012
This was pretty good. I used extra sharp cheddar and a pound of Cavatappi pasta instead of the penne. I also fried and crumbled bacon instead of using the bacon bits, and left out the red bell pepper. Diced onions would be a nice addition in here. For the topping I mixed a little bit of shredded cheddar in with the panko. Yummy.

Steak and Mushroom Sandwich

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2012
This was okay.I was only able to get 6 sandwiches from this recipe. A little bit of worchestshire sauce would go a long way in here, and some extra steak seasoning. I had some baby bella's in the fridge so I sauteed those and added them on top.

Gelatinized Hot Chocolate

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2012
I'm sure homemade marshmallows would be great in this but I didn't have any and my daughter was wanting something chocolate-y that she could make so we used store bought. It was a tasty hot chocolate. My little one got a bit creative and subbed Theo Chipotle spice Sipping Chocolate for the chocolate chips. She's such a smarty :) It was fantastic with that. Would have been good with just the reg. Choco chips too but yum with the Chipotle!

Chicken Fricassee

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2012
This was really good. I changed it up a little bit. I only had 10 thighs and I cut the cayenne in half. It was plenty spicy for me. My guys added tobasco but I'm a wimp and the andouille sausage is pretty spicy itself. I served this over rice and with homemade corn bread. Mine wouldn't thicken up so I ended up adding a cornstarch slurry before I finished cooking. I just wanted it thicker than it was getting. Thanks for the recipe! My guys really loved this. Yummy.

Teresa's Hearty Chicken Cacciatore

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2012
We really enjoyed this! I did add more garlic, we do love our garlic. Instead of red pepper flakes I used some cayenne pepper, didn't measure it just eyeballed it. Didn't want to chance my daughter getting one of the red peppers and refusing to eat anymore. I ended up using 8 thighs instead of the 6 and kept all the other ingredients in the same amount. Used penne pasta and served this with some crusty french bread. Yum! Thanks for the recipe!
