Smothered Pork Chops

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2011
Very good very easy. I'm not sure what browning sauce is so I didn't use it. I browned the chops in a little butter took them out then added the onion and garlic and cooked them a bit then added the flour and cooked it a little bit until it was brown then I added the chicken broth and water added the chops back in and simmered until cooked through. They came out tender an juicy. Served with mashed potatoes. Yum!

Rigatoni Surprise

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2011
This is pretty good. I did change things a little bit. I added some taco seasoning to the meat while it was cooking, and used a whole bell pepper. Also had some cheese sauce that needed to be used and since it was cheddar I used that. Added half and half instead of cream topped with some Monterrey Jack cheese and olives. I didn't have any rigatoni so I just used fettuccine. Thanks for the recipe!

Homemade Sweet Italian Sausage (Mild or Hot)

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2011
Perfect! After seeing this recipe I found some ground pork on sale at the store and so I had to try this recipe. It came out really well. Tasted just like Italian Sausage! I didn't have any ground fennel so I just used fennel seed. I think I used about a tablespoon but I didn't really measure that part. I used kosher salt, and 1 1/2 t of red pepper flakes. And I completely forgot the brown sugar, didn't seem to affect it at all. And to test it out I used the first pound in one of our family favorite recipe. Passed the test :) Thank you for this recipe.

Classic Stuffed Peppers

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2011
Tasty. I chose this recipe because it is stuffed with raw meat then baked. It was pretty good but I did add minced garlic and garlic powder into the meat. When there was about 5 minutes left of baking time I topped each pepper with a slice of provolone cheese. Served with angel hair pasta and wilted spinach. Thanks for the recipe.

Garlic Angel Hair Pasta

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2011
Pretty good. I did change it a bit. I didn't add the garlic to the water but added it to the butter and cooked it just a little bit. Simple easy and a great side dish.

Cheese Drop Biscuits

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2011
Very good! My son made these to go with dinner and they came out perfectly. We did use garlic powder instead of garlic salt and about a cup of shredded cheese. Baked them in muffin cups. Thanks for the recipe

Dale's Swedish Meatballs

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2011
This was very good. And really easy and quick to put together. I did leave out the cheddar cheese in the meatball since I didn't have any on hand. I baked the meatballs at 375 for 15 minutes and they were done perfectly. When making the sauce instead of the drippings, since I was baking the meatballs, I used 3 T of melted butter. I replaced one cup of water with a cup of coffee and left out the instant coffee. I did simmer the meatballs in the sauce after they were cooked. The meatballs came out tender and flavorful. I'll be making this again. Thanks for the recipe!

Heavenly Angel Food Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2011
Yummy! I have always thought that I hated Angel Food Cake. But I had a lot of egg whites that I needed to use so I thought I would try it homemade rather than store bought. This I like! I was surprised how easy it was to make too. I topped with Vanilla yogurt mixed with whipped cream and diced blackberries and strawberries. So good! Thanks for the recipe.

Slow Cooker Italian Beef for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2011
Fantastic! This was really really good. And so easy to put together. The smell of it just about drove us crazy all day long. I did use beef broth instead of water so I cut out the onion salt and just used onion powder. And for the dressing mix I used the full recipe of Italian Dressing Mix (AR). Thanks for the recipe!

Italian Dressing Mix

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2011
Perfect. I can't say how it tastes when making salad dressing but I used it in place of a packet for Slow Cooker Italian Beef for Sandwiches (AR) and it was great, I used the full amount the recipe made. I did use garlic powder instead of garlic salt and cut the salt down to 1 tsp. But that is for family health reasons. Thanks for the recipe!

Mocha Chocolate Chip Banana Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2011
Yummy! These are really good. I used 3 really big bananas. I used mini chocolate chips, and instead of water I used coffee to dissolve the instant coffee in. Mine only took 16 minutes to cook through so keep an eye on them. Thanks for the recipe.

Chicken with Sun-Dried Tomato and Roasted Pepper Cream Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2011
This was very good. I changed the serving size to 6 but only used 4 chicken breasts. I sliced the breasts into 1/2 strips and continued with the recipe. Also I used a 1 1/2 T of cornstarch mixed with water to thicken the sauce instead of flour. The sauce when finished tasted a little bitter to me so I added 2 fresh basil leaves (its all I had) and some dried basil (didn't measure). I think the bitterness was from the brand of tomatoes I used. The sweetness from the basil helped to balance the bitterness. I used a Merlot for the wine. It was a really good dish. Also after you drain your pasta toss it with a little bit of olive oil so that it doesn't stick together into one mass clump when you serve it. Thanks for the recipe.

Grain and Nut Whole Wheat Pancakes

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2011
Oh yum! My favorite thing to get at IHOP is the Harvest Grain and Nut pancakes but we don't go there often and I miss the pancakes. These were better. I added some extra egg since I had to change the recipe yield to 8 and it called for 1 1/4 egg. So I just used 2, also added some vanilla. My husband and kids also loved these. Hubby says they are "Awesome!" I'll be making these again.

Pesto Pasta

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2011
Recipe Group Recipe********We enjoyed this recipe. But there were some problems I had with it. The pesto is really really thick so I added a little bit of half and half to thin it down. I couldn't bring myself to add the cold pesto on top of the pasta so I warmed it up in a pan and added a little of the pasta water to thin it out a bit then tossed it with the pasta. I think that it was a bit heavy for angel hair so if I make it again I will use a bigger pasta. And I would add a little salt when mixing the pesto together, it was a bit bland if you got some without cheese. Thanks for the recipe.

One Bowl Chocolate Cake I

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2011
Very good cake. I substituted the water for coffee, it brings out the chocolate flavor more. I made these into cupcakes for my son's Valentine's Day party. Baked at 350 for 16 minutes and they came out perfect. I got 26 cupcakes out of the recipe. Family snatched a couple before I could frost them so I'm not sure exactly how many I got! Thanks.

Basic Bean Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2011
This is a very good bean soup. I had a ham bone with meat on it in the freezer so I just threw that in with the beans. Came out great. I served with Indian Fry Bread. Yum. Great meal for a cold winter day! Thanks for the recipe.

Skillet Potatoes with Bacon and Cheddar

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2011
Recipe Group******This is pretty good but it needs salt added to the potatoes while they are cooking. Other than that its tasty and would make a great snack for during a game or movie night. I did use russet potatoes(its what I had on hand), extra cheese and topped with sour cream and sliced green onions.
