Grands!® Mini Pizzas

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2013
I kept the grandgirls last night for a sleepover. They came up with the idea of having a breakfast party. So I decided to have Grands Ham and Cheese Melts, Grandwich Breakfast Sandwiches, and Grands Mini Pizzas. Grands for the Grands breakfast party was a hit! Of course, this was the girls' favorite, probably because they made them! Simple enough for a 2-yr.-old to make with a little supervision.

So I decided to have Grands Ham and Cheese Melts, Grandwich Breakfast Sandwiches, and Grands Mini Pizzas. Grands for the Grands breakfast party was a hit! This sandwich was my favorite of all the recipes I made. It is versatile enough to be able to use any kind of cheese and to use sausage instead of bacon.

Chocolate Oatmeal Porridge

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2013
This was my first experience using steel cut oats. I did have to add more water and cook longer, as the submitter said we might. I'm thinking the honey didn't flavor or sweeten to my personal preference, so I ended up adding a splash of my favorite flavored liquid coffee creamer. I kept trying to figure this recipe out, so with the last few bites, I added a small dollop of Cool Whip and decided this would make a better "healthy" dessert than breakfast.

Hot Banana Milkshake

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2013
I really like this recipe! I cut it in half and used a banana I had in the freezer (softened a bit in microwave before mixing with brown sugar and browning on stove). It did just fine...even with skim milk. No problems with the blender spewing everywhere either. This would make a very good after dinner drink to take the place of a dessert or to satisfy that late night craving.

Parmesan Baked Potatoes

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2013
Such an easy recipe! Very tasty, and it looks pretty, too. I admit I used more parmesan than the recipe called for. I laid the cut side of the potato in the melted butter and then laid it in the cheese, using what was needed to cover the face of the potato.

No Cook BBQ Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2013
I had no bbq sauce in the house and needed some for dinner tonight. I chose to make this because it used all common pantry/frig ingredients. Being from Memphis, I just didn't care for the strong mustard taste in this sauce, but I realize that is personal preference.

Lime Chicken Soft Tacos

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2013
I was totally surprised at how much I loved the flavors of the lime, red wine vinegar, and oregano in this recipe. I used left-over cooked chicken, added the rest of the ingredients, and simmered it long enough to get it warm. It turned out great! I also put my corn tortillas in a 400 degree oven for 10 minutes, spraying them with cooking spray and salt and turning them over at the halfway mark. A delicious way to use up left-over meat, making it into a new meal.

Mustard Crusted Tilapia

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2013
I'm always looking for something different to do with fish fillets. This was good. The amount of Parmesan seemed negligible to me. I broiled the fish at the end of the cooking time just long enough to brown the top.

Lower Fat Amish Macaroni Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2013
I halved the recipe and added 2 green onions. There was plenty of dressing to cover the macaroni and still was enough 2 hours later when I stirred it up and ate it. This is a delicious macaroni salad, and I will definitely use this recipe again.

Amish White Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2013
I cut the recipe in half and combined it all in my bread machine on the dough cycle. After that first rise, I took it out and forgot to knead it lightly. I just put it straight into my loaf pan to rise again, yet it still turned out and tasted delicious! I used it to make Mom's Gourmet Grill Cheese Sandwich, and what a wonderful sandwich! This bread made grilled cheese something special!

Peanut Butter Vegetable Chicken Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2013
While I probably won't make this again, I did enjoy it just because it was very different. I omitted the zucchini because I didn't have any, and if I were to make this again, I would omit the broccoli because of the strong flavor. I would just add more carrots and potatoes, possibly adding green peas as well. My husband, who really loves peanut butter, had no idea it was in the soup. I tasted it before and after the addition of the peanut butter, and it really does give it the unusual, interesting flavor.

Mom's Gourmet Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2013
This sandwich takes grilled cheese up quite a few notches. I used slices of Amish White Bread from this site and baked the buttered sandwiches in the oven at 400 degrees for 6-8 minutes per side just because I can get a more even browning that way. I didn't read the recipe closely and put the parmesan inside the sandwich rather than on the outside, but I intend to make my grilled cheese sandwiches this way again.

Sweet Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2013
These were my first real yeast rolls I've ever made, and they were delicious. Extremely soft and tender. They did turn out huge though. They were so big that I'm thinking I could have divided the dough in three parts instead of just two. I made 1/2 the batch into crescent rolls and baked them. I made the other 1/2 into round rolls and froze them. **Update 1-17-13 - I took 3 blobs of dough from freezer, thawed, and created 6 cloverleaf rolls. Of course, I let them rise. They were plenty big and perfectly delicious!

Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2013
I baked 4 cookies and put the rest of the dough in the freezer so I could have cookies for the grandkids at a moment's notice. These cookies did not turn out flat at all as some other reviewers suggested. Mine were crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. I baked them for 9 minutes. I would definitely make these again. ***They also bake up quite nicely after the dough has been frozen.

Sweet and Salty Toll House® Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2013
I wasn't expecting to like this cookie as much as I did. Because I didn't want big chunks, I probably broke the chips and pretzels into smaller pieces than most other people. These cookies even froze very well.

What a blast from the past! I love ambrosia and decided to make this for dessert using reduced fat sour cream and fruit packed in their own juices. Delicious!

Super Easy Fruit Dip

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2012
This fruit dip was certainly "super easy," but it did not have enough flavor for me. It was a weak flavored dip, and I even used twice the amount of yogurt called for.

Not YOUR mom's mac & cheese

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2012
I prefer creamy mac and cheese, so I didn't cook it. We love sharp cheddar, but I think the worcestershire sauce may have made it a little stronger than we prefer.

Easy Cheese Ball II

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2012
I made this for Christmas and shaped it like a snowman. I added some of the white cheddar cheese to the mix but also rolled it in the grated cheese to make it look like snow. I used chocolate chips to make eyes and buttons and mini chocolate chips to make the mouth. I used a piece of candy corn for the nose, but it bled after being put in the refrigerator for a few hours. I forgot the snowman's scarf, which I was going to make out of a carrot using a potato peeler to slice off a long sliver. The hat was a sociable cracker with a Rolo on top.
