About this Cook
When I was young, I told my mom that I wanted to be a Chef. So, for a very long time I was given the chore of cooking dinner for my family. Since then I learned that I did not want to cook professionally, and until recently, I was not very good at making chocolate cake (allrecipes and my wife changed that part of my life!). I love cooking for church functions, fellow employees at work, and of course friends and family.
My favorite things to cook
Lately, I've been baking a lot of bread. I've made bagels, pretzels, and loafs. I love spaghetti, roasts, and chicken. If it has anything to do with these, I'll give it a try. I'm looking for things to do with fresh produce as well.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom is an awesome cook and has taught me much. I think my favorite tradition growing up was watching her make Christmas cookies for everyone but us. Besides that, our Christmas dinner was a very large seafood feast. My favorite tradition with my wife involves finding the biggest turkey we can find and cooking it for thanksgiving dinner and inviting friends and family. The last turkey was a 28 ponder but, Every year we try to find a bigger one.
My cooking triumphs
I've cooked for a lot of church functions (such as Easter, welcoming new members, men's breakfast etc..) and all of them have taught me some great lessons and increased my appreciation for cooking. To me a cooking triumph is making something that every one involved in the eating process enjoys immensely and to not run out of food before everyone has their fill.
My cooking tragedies
When I was younger, I decided to make chocolate cake. This was a very large cake and it looked wonderful but, it made a better basketball then a food source. Over the next few years I found my self under this veil of...ruining every chocolate cake I've tried to make. Within this last year the veil has lifted and I can make chocolate cake without fear. Now I wait in horror for the next crippling tragedy but, as long as its not spaghetti, I think I'll live.

Bread Machine Challah I
I've been baking this bread for a few years now. People just keep asking me to make it for different occasions. It is wonderful and the dough has a very nice stretch to it. You do not have to change anything at all.
