About this Cook
Been married for over 26 years and have 3 sons, ages 13, & 10 yr old twins. I am currently working on 28+ years in the Army Reserve. My family and I love to travel and I am always on the look out for a good food! I love to entertain and usually host a large summer cookout, a hugh Halloween party, and a small Christmas get together, plus, there's always birthday parties to prepare for. I know I'm really going to hate it when my boys are "too old" for parties.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake; everything from bread to pie.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I have standard recipes that I love to use, expecially at parties and during the holidays, many coming from this site. Sometimes I think all the people who come to our parties and cookouts come for the food more than they come to visit.
My cooking triumphs
Not killing my husband when we first got married with my cooking.
My cooking tragedies
Can't really pinpoint one particular case, but I'm sure in involved trying out a new recipe for the first time when I was having guest.....lesson learned.....stick with the tried and true for special events and try the new stuff out when no one is around!

Chef John's Make-Ahead Turkey Gravy
Made this for Thanksgiving dinner. Took the advise of some previous reviews and tweaked the recipe a little. I felt that 10 cups of water was too much for a couple of turkey wings and adjusted to 31/2 cups of water and 3 1/2 cups of canned chicken stock. I added a little celery salt to taste and ended up with a recipe that I will be using every Thanksgiving. What I really loved about this recipe is that I made my gravy on Tuesday, put it in a quart jar and put in the refrigerator, all I did on Thanksgiving was heat it up in a saucepan, saved me a lot of time and work during those last minutes of crunch time. Thanks for a great recipe and great technique.

Too Much Chocolate Cake
Truly a chocolatle lovers dream. Made last week for a co-workers birthday and it was to die for. Like many other reviewers, I served with the Satiny Chocolate Glaze. Thanks for the great recipe.
