Slow-Braised Beef and Cherry Tomato Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2012
This was really yummy! Super important to note that the actual recipe from Chef John's website calls for *prepared tomato sauce*, as in, the jar stuff...not plain tomato sauce from the can!

Italian Spaghetti Sauce with Meatballs

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2011
Delicious! The meatballs came out perfectly tender. The key is the fresh breadcrumbs, they soak up sauce and become "moisture blobs" in the meatballs. lol. I added more garlic to them and threw in a little salt and a small amount of red pepper flakes to avoid the bland tasting meatballs that some other reviewers mentioned. I will definitely make this again. As with all recipes that call for basil, I implore you to use fresh basil (Use 3X the amount when using fresh!), it's so much better than dry basil.

Carrot Cake III

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2010
Absolutely wonderful. Don't change anything. My department at work went CRAZY over it. I thought 1 and 1/4 cups of oil seemed like a lot but it just made the cake so moist and tender (Not greasy, trust me). Even more important - Don't listen to bad reviews from people who didn't follow the recipe! They're giving their own recipe a bad review at that point, not this one. Also, remember that ovens are different. Check on the cake a few minutes early if you think you need to. The second that toothpick is clean, it's done.

Best Egg Rolls

Double up on the spices and these are fantastic. I also add a little soy sauce and celery seed, and cook the cabbage/carrot mixture with the meat for the last few minutes. I am constantly being asked to make these for parties!

Heavenly Angel Food Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2010
This was the best Angel Food Cake I have ever eaten, and I'm not the only person who said that! Don't change anything and don't use your stand mixer to fold in the flour, use a spatula, be very gentle, and don't fold too much! Use your sifter to dust the flour onto the egg mixture between folds for good results.

Blueberry Crumb Bars

Delicious! I used butter instead of shortening and it came out wonderful. Use the paddle attachment on your stand mixer if you have one, it's easy and does the job perfectly.

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2010
Wow! This was so incredibly good and super-easy! I made it exactly as written. Everything fit perfectly into one standard-sized 9" glass pie dish. I'm not sure why others recommend doubling the sauce, it was plenty saucy as-is and extra sauce was not needed. I will definitely be making this again. I'm off to go get seconds now!

Sweet Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2009
Wow! These remind me of those Hawaiian rolls I love so much. I started making these before I realized I ran out of regular butter so I used honey butter. I don't know if that changed the taste much but these were soooo good. I also brushed them with melted honey butter when I took them out of the oven for a picture-perfect sheen. Now if only I took a picture. Darn it. :) Make these, and try it with honey butter!

Tres Leches (Milk Cake)

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2009
I've never baked, or even ate for that matter, a Tres Leches cake. It was different but very good. A friend from Honduras requested it for his birthday and he enjoyed it. Be sure to poke enough holes in the cake with your fork so that it absorbs the milk mixture! Thanks Stephanie!

Angela's Awesome Enchiladas

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2009
These were great! I think next time I'll use a little less sour cream though. I'm not a big fan of sour cream and I'm pretty sure I could taste it in the sauce. It didn't matter much though because they were quite possibly the best enchilada's I've had in years.

Bread Machine Pizza Dough

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2009
This is a good basic pizza dough that you can't go wrong with. Try using half whole wheat flour for a different flavor. Top that with garlic cream sauce from this site and some pre-made grilled chicken (for salads) and you have a delicious "gourmet" pizza that tastes like you spent hours preparing it! Add some sun-dried tomatoes to really woo your guests. :)

This recipe is fantastic! I usually stick with the highly reviewed recipes to be safe but I went ahead and gave this one a try. I'm glad I did! This is my favorite way to eat sweet potatoes. It's nice and sweet, almost like a sweet potato casserole.

Mmm-Mmm Better Brownies

Pretty darn good and really easy! I used 1/2 cup of cocoa to give it a more chocolaty flavor. I think I'll use a little less next time though. :> I also made these into muffins instead of regular brownies. That way each one get's a nice crispy crust all around.

I doubled the recipe for a bake sale and they sold like hotcakes :). Tip - Leave your butter out for about 30 minutes to make it easier to make the crumb topping.
