Garlic Mashed Red Potatoes

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2011
First time using red potatoes and we loved it. It was easy to make and turned out delicious! Key word - EASY. I added more garlic cloves since we love garlic and used 2% milk because that's what I always have at home. I tasted it before adding the Parmesan cheese and it tasted wonderful too! I think the garlic is what gives it the best flavor so don't skip out on it.

This review is long overdue. I served these on new years eve and everyone loved them! In fact, one of the sober guests went and bought more Irish cream since I ran out of the first bottle. definitely a crowd pleaser.

Jenny's Grilled Chicken Breasts

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2010
This was a solid recipe which I will use again. I added lemon pepper seasoning, a few shakes of pepper flakes, and a dash of EVOO. It marinated for an hour before going on the grill. It had the perfect lemon flavoring and was moist. I served it with a side of jambalaya seasoned rice.

Whole Wheat Honey Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2010
WOW! This is great bread. I used butter instead of shortening and mixed the salt with the liquids; both suggested by other reviewers. I am so happy with it! It's got the right amount of balance to it, not dense and not too sweet. Also, I used the white bread setting and put it to light - I have an Oster machine.

BBQ Pork for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2010
After 4 hours in the crock pot, the pork got shredded and tossed in the dutch oven with bbq sauce from our favorite local restaurant. It was simple and delicious. My husband finished his sandwich as I was not even halfway done with mine. Needless to say, he loved it. We will definitely make this again and keep with the original recipe. No need to modify.

Slow Cooker Lemon Garlic Chicken II

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2010
This was great! I used chicken broth and white wine. Didn't really measure anything, just threw it all in there and left it on high for 3 hours. Cut up some fresh parsley from my yard for the last hour on warm and it was really delicious. I served with a side of risotto and used the juices from the crock pot to enhance the rice flavor.

Creamy Sage Butter Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2010
Modifications: + Used Parmesan cheese and doubled the chicken broth as I didn't have heavy cream (as suggested in another review) + Used my spice and nut grinder to mince the sage leaves instead of chopping + Added a dash of flour to thicken the sauce. Review: I thought it was a good sage based sauce but a little on the buttery side for me. Will make again, but with less butter next time.

Beef Bourguignon II

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2010
Made this in the slow cooker and it was delicious! Used pearl onions, fresh mushrooms, and a bottle of pinot noir. Served with side of mashed potatoes and asparagus. It was very easy to make and resulted in a great rich flavor. This was something my husband has always wanted to make and was very pleased with it. It was a melt in your mouth experience. This dish was such a treat, we will definitely be making this again!

Prosciutto Wrapped Asparagus

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2010
I made these for our Christmas Eve dinner and it was the first thing we ran out of. I used flavored cream cheese and used it sparingly. The prosciutto was thinly sliced too. This was the perfect side dish, even for non-asparagus eaters. I made them again for dinner guests this week and it was a big hit, again. This will be in my rotation of side dishes from now on. It's simple, yet elegant and delicious.

I loved these. They were spicy, tender, and delicious. I would definitely make these again. Used the suggestion of putting them in the freezer for 30 minutes before grilling. YUM!

Slow Cooker Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2010
1. browned chops and de-glazed with beer. 2. seasoned with salt and pepper 3. added one medium sized onion (sliced) 4. added 8 oz sliced mushrooms 5. added remaining beer (used New Castle dark beer) review: my husband said it was the best pork recipe we have cooked to date. He was ready to eat it all! The pork came out very tender and juicy. As for me, I don't like sauerkraut nor the smell of it - it definitely smelled like it throughout the house. I did taste the pork and it was good. We will be making this again, for him.

Fiery Pork Skewers

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2009
I tripled the sauce for this recipe and marinated overnight in a ziplock bag. Skewered with onions. It was very tasty - a good balance of sweet and spicy. Served with side of canned corn. This was my third time making this dish and will make it again.

Shrimp Scampi V

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2009
WOW! This turned out great with my additions. I used raw shrimp: let it sit in the wine and black pepper for 30 minutes. Used EVOO and a spoon of butter. Added a lot of red pepper flakes and about 2 Tbsp of lemon juice. Also used about 1/2 cup of the reserve water from the pasta to help thicken it up. It was delicious!

Marinated Baked Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2009
This was a good recipe, the only downside was not having a thicker sauce. I cooked covered for 30, then 20 uncovered, and finished off with broiling for a very short time. Although I made 2 chops, I used the recipe for 6 chops to make the sauce. It turned out really tender and delicious. I will definitely make this again considering the ingredients are always readily available.

Happy Shrimp

This was great and simple. I used precooked shrimp and made more of the sauce to coat the pasta. Topped off with fresh grated parmesan cheese. This will make it in our rotation.

Pan-fried Steak with Marsala Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2009
I used top sirloin but will use filet next time. My modifications: added cornstarch to thicken and doubled the marsala amount. Also, I had previously made broth from this roasted chicken recipe which had rosemary it (http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Roast-Chicken-with-Rosemary/Detail.aspx ). Next time, I won't add more rosemary to the sauce. Overall, the sauce is a hit! Served with side of boiled red potatoes and canned corn.
