So I see I haven't written anything in years!!!  It's been bumpy in my life.  My husband decided he just didn't wanna be here anymore, so he packed up the RV and moved back east.  I was left with my two dogs and a home to maintain on my own.  I'm not complaining, it has been a very liberating… MORE

Just a cool old barn
Hey...My bottle's empty!
About this Cook
My life is pretty simple, and boring. I love my dogs, cooking, riding my motorcycle any chance I get...usually to eat. I must be part gypsy, because I love to be out on the road. I live near the California wine country, so I also enjoy wine tasting...and of course all the great food the Napa Valley has to offer. I have recently discovered micro beers, they are fantastic, but not at all good for my waistline....LOL!
My favorite things to cook
I don't really think I have a favorite...I just like to cook. I enjoy trying new things, haven't found anything yet that I wouldn't ever want to do again.
My cooking triumphs
I usually try to keep it simple, but I just mastered the Apple Pie, so I'm happy about that.
My cooking tragedies
I have yet to make the perfect artichoke...but I just found a great recipe for a garlic grilled one, so I hope to change that soon...

Light Avocado Egg Salad
I thought this was a great healthy option, but I did find it a bit bland. I tried it first as written, then added some capers for some extra flavor. I do love this idea and will continue to tweak it. I think I'll try it next time with Dijon. Thank you for the healthy idea.

Spicy Vegan Potato Curry
Just finished making this. The only change I made was to use frozen peas. It was fantastic!!! I've already shared it with a friend. Can't wait to eat my leftovers for lunch tomorrow...I'm sure it will be even better!

Pork Chops Stuffed with Smoked Gouda and Bacon
Absolutely fantastic. I couldn't believe that I wasn't at a 5 star restaurant while eating these. I would serve these to guests, or a date that you are trying to impress. :-) I didn't change a thing. I did make a white gravy with the bacon drippings. I made it with a little milk, apple juice and chicken stock. I added dried basil, dried parsley, minced dried onion, salt, pepper and some diced green apple. It was delish, but the pork was great all by it's self.
