Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies III

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2008
Just so everyone knows, these are SUPPOSE to be more cake-like cookie. These cookies are extra special in my opinion, these are by far the best. I was using a similar recipe until I found this one and I like this one much more. I added a bit more nutmeg, clove, allspice. I highly recommend these, I can't wait to bake them this fall for potlucks. You can also add a drop or two of orange coloring to get a deeper color of cookie. I like to refrigerate mine and eat them cold.

I love this as a basic custard style vanilla ice cream recipe. I used liquid eggs. Turns out beautiful each time!

Strawberry-Pineapple Smoothie

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2011
I changed it up just a tad. I had a large amout of fresh sliced pineapple, so I used pineapple in place of pineapple juice. I also used fresh strawberries in place of frozen and skipped the ice cubes as I am not an "icy" kinda smoothie person, I like it smooth and fresh. I have wheat germ, so I used it in my smoothies. It turned out excellent and I will make this again!

Bagel Melts

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2012
I made this without the bacon (I know, major part of the sandwich, right?) because I don't eat bacon. I really liked this simple yet quick and easy to prepare bagel melt. I added some garlic powder and fresh ground black pepper on top and used an onion bagel. Seriously delicious!

Recipe worked great! I left off the parmesan cheese, but I used the butter and fresh parsley.

Sam's Famous Carrot Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2012
This recipe lives up to its full five star rating on here. This was my first time making a carrot cake from scratch. I followed the recipe with the exception of leaving out the pineapple and raisins because I didn't have any. I baked mine in two round silicone pans and created a layered cake. There is a local over the top place called Extraordinary Desserts in San Diego and I have the cookbook from there, I decided to create an "extraordinary cake" using tips from the cookbook. I make a simple vanilla syrup and while the cakes were still hot from the oven, I poured the syrup over them and allowed them to soak. I assembled the cakes in a cake pan putting an orange cream cheee frosting in the middle as a filling. I froze the cake to allow the filling to set firmly in place. I iced the outide of the cake with an extra allspice-y cream cheese frosting and made an almond/white chocolate crunch for the sides. This cake was phenomenal!

Ice Cream Sundae Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2011
Great basic recipe! I would have used vanilla but I was gifted with a quart of strawberry ice cream today so I used strawberry ice cream in this recipe. I skipped baking the Oreo crust but loved the homemade whipped cream for the top. It is a relief to find a recipe that calls for fresh cream rather than store-bought.

My Mom's Apple Sauce Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2011
Delicious cake! I had to use up some unopening applesauce and decided upon this recipe. I cut it in half using the servings calculator. I decided to bake this in a small jellyroll baking sheet rather than a cake pan. The size sheet I used was a 12" x 8.5" I baked at 325 for 13 minutes. The only tweaking of ingredients I did was add additional cinnamon to the recipe.

Pumpkin Cheesecake

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2011
I made this recipe for my family in Iowa while visiting. I wasn't able to taste the recipe for myself, but I could tell as I made it that it was going to be delicious, especially with the sweet sour cream topping. I added some pumpkin spice to the crust and sprinkled extra cinnamon on top of the sour cream layer before serving and my family raved over this recipe. A great addition or alternative to pumpkin pie this fall.

Three Cheese Baked Pasta

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2012
Turned out great! I used whole wheat penne pasta with a traditional marinara that I added some garlic and onion seasonings to. In addition to the chopped onion, I also chopped a fresh tomato to add in. I got a bag of Kraft Philadelphia Italian cheese mixture to add in with the parmesan. We made ours without the meat.

Whoopie Pies VII

Reviewed: May 14, 2011
This recipe turned out perfect for me! I made the recipe as written and I got 24 large super soft and puffy whoopie pie cookies. I found they taste the best within the first 24 hours of making them. They expand in the oven while baking, so keep that in mind. Looking forward to making these again.

This is what my mother did with our strawberries growing up. It reminds me of summers in Iowa on our farm. You can't go wrong with this....great with whipped cream too.

Puppy Chow I

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2011
I never made or had anything like this before. My friend came over a few days ago with a bag of this puppy chow for me. She gave me the recipe but I decided to check it out on AllRecipe and this is the same exact recipe she used. It turned out fantastic! I used a box of Crispix instead of Chex. A full size box of Crispix is 12 ounces but that was more than enough cereal for this recipe.

Easy Gravy

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2011
This turned out to be easy as promised and pretty tasty. I had to adapt this recipe since I don't have miso paste and I am not sure what that is. I added some corn starch in it's place to ensure the gravy woulf thicken. I added some garlic and onion spices to give it great flavor.

Gingerbread Latte

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2011
The recipe itself was fantastic. I buy the Archer Farms (Target brand) Gingerbread syrup. I don't agree with the assembly. Typically you wouldn't mix the syrup with the espresso - rather the syrup would be steamed and frothed with the milk then pour over the espresso.

Penne Pasta Lasagna

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2011
I had no problem with this recipe as others claimed to have. I actually used less sauce than the recipe calls for and it was more than plenty. I used a whole wheat penne and I just added some chopped fresh onions, garlic, and basil leaves to the cheese mixture. I will be making this recipe again!

Lazy Katie's Taco Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2011
You can't go wrong with this great basic for a quick lunch or for dinner. I substituted the beef for Madras Lentils which is a lentil, kidney bean, and tomato substitute for tacos. Instead of corn chips I crunch up taco shells. Excellent and quick lunch or dinner.
