About this Cook
As a child, I used to love going through my mom's spice drawer - smelling and tasting all the different spices. I would spend hours organizing the spices, colored sugars, and food colorings. Usually this organization lead into a session of baking cookies. Somewhere along the way I stopped cooking and baking, but have recently started up again. I am finding that I absolutely love it.
My favorite things to cook
I love to try new recipes, especially if they are easy. As I try them, I often find myself modifying them to the point that I've created an entirely new recipe. This is great because from one recipe I usually end up with a minimum of two. It is bad because when I do that, I never get around to tasting the recipe in it's original configuration.
My favorite family cooking traditions
In my family, we didn't really have actual cooking traditions, but we definitely had eating traditions! :)
My cooking triumphs
I no longer buy boxed meals and make most of my meals from scratch!
My cooking tragedies
I once used cream of tartar in mashed potatoes thinking it would give it a smooth, creamy texture. Ooops!!

Chicken Milano
This was incredible and easy to make! I did not have any heavy cream, so I used a half & half and a little flour for thickening the sauce. Instead of fettuccine, I used penne and I imagine that with fettuccine or even linguine this would be phenomenal - as it was delicious with the penne. Relatively easy to make. Will be definitely making it again. And this is one of the those, "let's impress the guests" dishes.

Easy Pilaf
Quick and easy, especially if you use a rice cooker. Simply sautee the onions in butter, add the rice and continue sauteeing until lightly browned. Transfer the rice to the rice cooker and add broth. Cook as usual in the rice cooker. So simple!

Salsa Chicken and Potato Packets
So incredibly easy and yummy! This is truly a one dish (or packet!) meal. We enjoyed it very much. For an added health punch, try serving it with gaucamole instead of sour cream. Mmmmm :)
